Dióscoro Teófilo Puebla Tolín (25 February 1831 – 24 October 1901) was a Spanish painter in the Eclectic style who specialized in portraits, genre and history painting. Biography Puebla was born in Melgar de Fernamental. His first studies took place in the public schools of Carrión de los Condes, where he displayed his talent for drawing. This led to his enrollment at the new "Escuela Municipal de Dibujo de Palencia", which had been created in 1838 and ultimately produced many well-known Spanish artists, including José Casado del Alisal, Eugenio Oliva and Asterio Mañanós Martínez. Jean Laurent (photographer)
Jean Laurent or, in Spanish, Juan Laurent Minier; sometimes simply J. Laurent (23 July 1816, Garchizy – 24 November 1886, Madrid) was a French photographer who mostly worked in Spain. Biography He first moved to Spain in 1843, and settled in Madrid. Until 1855, he worked as a box and paper maker, creating luxurious boxes for pastries and marbled paper for book bindings. That year, he became interested in photography from having done work coloring photographs. The following year, he was able to open a studio on the Carrera de San Jerónimo, near the Congress of Deputies (Spain), Congress of Deputies, the same location where the British photographer, Charles Clifford (photographer), Charles Clifford, had set up his first studio. The Congress of Deputies ( es, link=no, Congreso de los Diputados, italic=unset) is the lower house of the Cortes Generales, Spain's legislative branch. The Congress meets in the Palace of the Parliament () in Madrid. It has 350 members elected by constituencies (matching fifty Spanish provinces and two autonomous cities) by closed list proportional representation using the D'Hondt method. Deputies serve four-year terms. The presiding officer is the President of the Congress of Deputies, who is elected by the members thereof. It is the analogue to a speaker. In the Congress, MPs from the political parties, or groups of parties, form parliamentary groups.
