Census Division No. 8 (Central Manitoba) is a census division located within the Central Plains Region of the Province of Manitoba, Canada. Unlike in some other provinces, census divisions do not reflect the organization of local government in Manitoba. These areas exist solely for the purposes of statistical analysis and presentation; they have no government of their own. The economics of the area is based on agriculture, livestock and commercial fish on Lake Manitoba. The population of the area as of 2016 was 13,968. Also included in the division is the Sandy Bay First Nation and the southernmost part of the Long Plain First Nation. MacGregor, Manitoba
MacGregor is a community in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It held town status prior to January 1, 2015 when it amalgamated with the Rural Municipality of North Norfolk to form the Municipality of North Norfolk. MacGregor is located approximately west of Winnipeg and east of Brandon. It is a farming community, with the biggest industry in the area being agriculture. The community is surrounded by farms, and the Trans-Canada Highway is located just north of MacGregor. History The town is named after the Very Rev James MacGregor by the Canadian Pacific Railway who named a railway station after him, during his visit with the Marquis of Lome, around which the town grew. The Rural Municipality of Victoria is located in south-central Manitoba, north-east of Glenboro. The RM was established in 1902 and named for Queen Victoria. In its westernmost part, the RM contains parts of Manitoba's Spruce Woods Provincial Forest and Spruce Woods Provincial Park. Treherne is an unincorporated urban community in the Municipality of Norfolk Treherne within the Canadian province of Manitoba that held town status prior to January 1, 2015. It is halfway between Winnipeg and Brandon on Provincial Highway 2.
