Diving At The 2022 Commonwealth Games – Men's 3 Metre Springboard
The men's 3 metre springboard is part of the Diving at the 2022 Commonwealth Games program. The competition will be held on 6 August 2022 at Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Birmingham. Format The competition will be held in two rounds: * Preliminary round: All divers perform six dives; the top 12 divers advance to the final. * Final: The 12 divers perform six dives; the preliminary round scores are erased and the top three divers win the gold, silver and bronze medals accordingly. Sandwell Aquatics Centre
Sandwell Aquatics Centre is an indoor facility located in Londonderry, Smethwick, West Midlands, England. It contains an Olympic-size swimming pool (one of only two in the West Midlands region), a 10-metre diving board with 25 metre pool (the only one in the whole of the Midlands), a community swimming pool and permanent seating for 1,000 spectators with an additional 4,000 seats during the Games. Construction began in January 2020 and opened on 12th April 2022 to mark 100 days until the start of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The centre was initially used for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and was the only venue constructed for the games. After the games, the centre is scheduled to be redeveloped and will officially open for public use in May 2023 when it will be operated by the Sandwell Leisure Trust. Yona Knight-Wisdom
Yona Roshen Knight-Wisdom (born 12 May 1995) is a Jamaican diver, who competed at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics, and came second in the 1 metre springboard event at the 2019 Pan American Games. He was the first Jamaican male diver at an Olympic Games. Personal life Knight-Wisdom was born in Leeds, UK, but competes for Jamaica. His father, Trevor Wisdom, is from Jamaica and his mother, Grace Knight, is from Barbados. Knight-Wisdom studied at Leeds Grammar School, and is a graduate of Leeds Beckett University, where he studied sport and exercise science. Cédric Fofana (born September 15, 2003) is a Canadian diver in the springboard (3 metre) events. Career In 2018, Fofana won bronze in the 14-15 age category in the springboard (3 m) diving event at the 2018 FINA World Junior Diving Championships in Kyiv, Ukraine. In July 2021, Fofana won the individual 3 m springboard competition at the Canadian Olympic Diving trials. Samuel Fricker (born 4 May 2002) is an Australian diver. He competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics. Fricker grew up in Newcastle and now lives at Cronulla in Sydney. Fricker has used his social media following to produce content and support various charities. Biography Fricker enrolled in his first diving competition at age 10. Prior to that he had competed in gymnastics and athletics. Daniel Goodfellow
Daniel Goodfellow (born 19 October 1996) is a British diver, two-time Commonwealth champion and Olympic bronze medalist. He first represented Great Britain as a senior at the 2013 European Diving Championships in the 10 m platform event and the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in the same event. Goodfellow won a bronze medal in the Men's 10m Synchronised Platform event with his diving partner Tom Daley at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
