The diving competitions at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Queensland was held from 10 to 14 April at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre. A total of ten events was contested (five for men and five for women). Gold Coast Aquatic Centre
The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre (also known as the Optus Aquatic Centre for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games) is a public swimming pool complex located in the Southport Broadwater Parklands on the Gold Coast, Queensland. It was the swimming and diving facility for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. History The ''Gold Coast Aquatic Centre'' opened in the 1960s as the ''Southport Pool''. The complex was renamed to the ''Gold Coast Aquatic Centre'' in the late 2000s. In 2018, the Gold Coast hosted the Commonwealth Games. The ''Gold Coast Aquatic Centre'' was the swimming and diving facility for the event. Approximately $40 million was spent on redeveloping the complex. The redevelopment included the construction of an additional 10-lane competition pool, additional change rooms and new meeting rooms. James Connor (diver)
James Connor (born 5 May 1995) is an Australian diver. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's 10 metre platform event, failing to advance to the semi-finals after classifying 20th in the preliminaries. James began his diving career at the age of 8, at the Ringwood Aquatic Centre, and is a member of the Gannets Diving Club. His more notable results include a gold medal at the 2011 Australian Swimming Championships in the 10 m synchro event with his partner Ethan Warren; as well as becoming a centurion at the Rage in 2017. He also won a silver in the 3 m synchro and a bronze in the 3 m individual springboard on the same occasion. Connor also participated in the 2010 Commonwealth Games where he finished 9th in the 10 metre platform. James also won first place in the 10m platform at the 2009 British Elite Junior Championships, and second in the 3m springboard at the same event. Grace Reid
Grace Elizabeth Reid (born 9 May 1996) is a Scottish diver representing Scotland and Great Britain, and specialising in 1 metre and 3 metre springboard disciplines. She is a double gold medalist at both the European Championships and the Commonwealth Games, and a three-time national champion. Career At the 2010 Commonwealth Games, representing Scotland she competed in the Women's 3 metre springboard, aged only 14. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, she competed in the Women's 1 metre springboard and Women's 3 metre springboard events. Noah Oliver Williams (born 15 May 2000) is an English Diving (sport), diver who represents Great Britain and specialises in the 10 metre platform event. He has won silver medals in the 10 metre synchro platform with Matthew Dixon (diver), Matthew Dixon at the European Championships (multi-sport event), European Championships and the Commonwealth Games. Early life Williams is from Hoxton in Hackney, London. He was about nine when he first tried diving – while at school, he saw a leaflet from Crystal Palace Diving seeking talent and went to try out the sport, and was accepted. He received support from Hackney's Youth Sports Fund and won the Hackney Sports Awards for six years. He now trains at the London Aquatics Centre. Daniel Goodfellow
Daniel Goodfellow (born 19 October 1996) is a British diver, two-time Commonwealth champion and Olympic bronze medalist. He first represented Great Britain as a senior at the 2013 European Diving Championships in the 10 m platform event and the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in the same event. Goodfellow won a bronze medal in the Men's 10m Synchronised Platform event with his diving partner Tom Daley at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He has also won a gold with Daley in the same event at the Commonwealth Games, and a silver at the European Championships. Chris Mears (diver)
Christopher James Mears (born 7 February 1993) is a British diver and DJ/Producer from Burghfield Common, near Reading, Berkshire. He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the synchronised 3m springboard event with Jack Laugher and won gold, the first Olympic gold medal for Britain in diving. Mears has won two further golds in Men's synchronized 3 metre springboard with Laugher at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and 2018, one gold and one silver at the European Championships, and one bronze at the World Championships. Vincent Riendeau (diver)
Vincent Riendeau (born December 13, 1996) is a Canadian elite diver. He won a silver medal at the 2015 FINA World Championships in the 10 m mixed synchro event and a silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in the 10 m synchro event. He competed at several World Cups and Grand Prix events. Career He was selected as part of the Canadian Olympic team for the 2016 games in Rio and competed in the 10m platform alongside Maxim Bouchard.
