Diving At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's 3 Metre Springboard
Men's 3 metre springboard competition at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics was held from August 18 to August 19, at the Beijing National Aquatics Center. It was an individual diving competition, with dives performed from a flexible springboard three metres above the surface of the water. The individual diving competitions all consist of three rounds. In the first, the 29 divers each perform six dives. The top 18 divers advance to the semifinals. Each diver again performs six dives, and the top 12 divers from among those dives advance to the finals. Preliminary scores are ignored at this point, as only the semifinal scores are considered in advancement. In the final round, the divers perform a final set of six dives, with the scores from those dives (and only those dives) used to determine final ranking. Beijing National Aquatics Center
The National Aquatics Centre (), and colloquially known as the Water Cube () and the Ice Cube (), is an aquatics center at the Olympic Green in Beijing, China. The facility was originally constructed to host the aquatics competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. During the Olympics — where it hosted diving, swimming and synchronized swimming events — 25 world records were broken in swimming. In July 2010, a renovation of the facility was completed, which included the addition of a public water park. He Chong (; born June 10, 1987 in Zhanjiang, Guangdong) is a Chinese diving (sport), diver. He is the Diving at the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2008 Olympic Champion in the 3m springboard. He split with partner Wang Feng (diver), Wang Feng after they won a gold medal in the 3m synchronised springboard event at the 2005 World Championships. Alexandre Despatie
Alexandre Despatie (; born June 8, 1985) is a Canadian diver and broadcaster from Laval, Quebec. He was the world champion at the 1 and 3 m springboards from 2005 to 2007 and is the first, and so far only, diver to have been world champion in all three individual categories (1, 3 and 10 m platform). He is also a 37-time Canadian senior diving champion and nine-time junior champion, and the most decorated male diver in Canadian history, winning two Olympic silver medals and reaching eight podiums at the world championships, including three gold medals. Qin Kai (; born January 31, 1986) is a Chinese athlete who competes in diving. He competed for Team China at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
