Diving At The 2018 Commonwealth Games – Women's 3 Metre Springboard
The women's 3 metre springboard was part of the Diving at the 2018 Commonwealth Games program. The competition was held on 14 April 2018 at Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in Gold Coast. Format The competition was held in two rounds: * Preliminary round: All 15 divers perform five dives; the top 12 divers advance to the final. * Final: The 12 divers perform five dives; the preliminary round scores are erased and the top three divers win the gold, silver and bronze medals accordingly. Gold Coast Aquatic Centre
The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre (also known as the Optus Aquatic Centre for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games) is a public swimming pool complex located in the Southport Broadwater Parklands on the Gold Coast, Queensland. It was the swimming and diving facility for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. History The ''Gold Coast Aquatic Centre'' opened in the 1960s as the ''Southport Pool''. The complex was renamed to the ''Gold Coast Aquatic Centre'' in the late 2000s. In 2018, the Gold Coast hosted the Commonwealth Games. The ''Gold Coast Aquatic Centre'' was the swimming and diving facility for the event. Approximately $40 million was spent on redeveloping the complex. The redevelopment included the construction of an additional 10-lane competition pool, additional change rooms and new meeting rooms. Esther Qin (; born 18 November 1991) is a Chinese-born Australian retired diver. Personal life Qin was born in Liuzhou, Guangxi, China to a Zhuang family. Her family moved to Australia in 2009, as her father had found a position as a chef. Jennifer Abel (born August 23, 1991) is a Canadian former diver. She is currently partnered with Mélissa Citrini-Beaulieu for synchronized diving.
