Diving At The 2018 Commonwealth Games – Men's 10 Metre Platform
The men's 10 metre platform was part of the Diving at the 2018 Commonwealth Games program. The competition was held on 14 April 2018 at Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in Gold Coast. Format The competition was held in two rounds: * Preliminary round: All 13 divers perform five dives; the top 12 divers advance to the final. * Final: The 12 divers perform five dives; the preliminary round scores are erased and the top three divers win the gold, silver and bronze medals accordingly. Gold Coast Aquatic Centre
The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre (also known as the Optus Aquatic Centre for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games) is a public swimming pool complex located in the Southport Broadwater Parklands on the Gold Coast, Queensland. It was the swimming and diving facility for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. History The ''Gold Coast Aquatic Centre'' opened in the 1960s as the ''Southport Pool''. The complex was renamed to the ''Gold Coast Aquatic Centre'' in the late 2000s. In 2018, the Gold Coast hosted the Commonwealth Games. The ''Gold Coast Aquatic Centre'' was the swimming and diving facility for the event. Approximately $40 million was spent on redeveloping the complex. The redevelopment included the construction of an additional 10-lane competition pool, additional change rooms and new meeting rooms. Matthew Lee (born 5 March 1998) is a British diver and Olympic gold medallist. Adept in both individual and synchronised diving, and across both 3-metre springboard and platform, Lee won the gold medal in 10-metre platform at the 2015 European Games, the mixed 10-metre synchronised platform at the 2017 European Diving Championships and has twice been European junior champion on the 3-metre springboard. At world level, Lee won the silver medal in the mixed 10-metre synchronised platform event at the 2017 World Championships, and at the 2019 World Championships, Lee and Tom Daley won bronze in the 10 m synchro event, as well as gold in July 2021 at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Rylan Wiens (born January 2, 2002) is a Canadian diver in the platform (10 metre) events. Wiens currently resides and trains in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Career Wiens' first major team was at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, where he competed in the individual and synchro events. At the 2021 FINA Diving World Cup, Wiens scored a 488.55 in the final, which won him the bronze medal.
