Diving is the sport of jumping or falling into water from a platform or springboard, usually while performing acrobatics. Diving is an internationally recognized sport that is part of the Olympic Games. In addition, unstructured and non-competitive diving is a recreational pastime. Competitors possess many of the same characteristics as gymnasts and dancers, including strength, flexibility, kinaesthetic judgment and air awareness. Some professional divers were originally gymnasts or dancers as both the sports have similar characteristics to diving. Blythe Hartley
Blythe Hartley (born May 2, 1982) is a Canadian Olympic diver. She was born in Edmonton, Alberta and began diving at age 12. Personal life She went to the National Sport School in Calgary, Alberta with many other top Canadian athletes. Hartley attended Handsworth Secondary School before going on to attend the University of Southern California where she graduated in 2006 with a degree in communications. She was CTV diver analyst during 2012 Summer Olympics. Diving career Hartley won her first gold medal at the world aquatic championships in the 1 m springboard in Fukuoka, Japan in 2001, and won a bronze at the 2003 World Aquatics Championships in 3 m springboard in Barcelona, Spain. Chantelle Lee Newbery (née Michell) (born 6 May 1977) is an Australian former diver. She won a gold medal in diving at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and in 2006 became the 22nd athlete to be named in the Australian Institute of Sport Awards' "Best of the Best". Career Born in Melbourne, Newbury's first international success was at the 1998 World Aquatics Championships in Perth, Australia, where she won a bronze medal in the 3m springboard event. Leon Taylor (born 2 November 1977) is a former British competitive diver. During his diving career he won medals at all major international events including a silver at the Athens Olympics. Following his retirement from competition, Taylor transitioned to a portfolio of projects. He now speaks about mental wellness, supports the SportsAid charity, teaches yoga and mental wellness, works for an executive performance business and commentates for the BBC. Alexandre Despatie (; born June 8, 1985) is a Canadian diver and broadcaster from Laval, Quebec. He was the world champion at the 1 and 3 m springboards from 2005 to 2007 and is the first, and so far only, diver to have been world champion in all three individual categories (1, 3 and 10 m platform). He is also a 37-time Canadian senior diving champion and nine-time junior champion, and the most decorated male diver in Canadian history, winning two Olympic silver medals and reaching eight podiums at the world championships, including three gold medals. Yeoh Ken Nee
Yeoh Ken Nee (; born 30 April 1983) is a Malaysian diver. As a 15-year-old he competed in Diving at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. He competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. In 2009 he competed in the 2009 World Aquatics Championships in the Men's 3 m synchro springboard and Men's 3 m springboard, finishing in 11th and 29th position respectively. In June 2010 he competed in the 2010 FINA Diving World Cup in Changzhou, Jiangsu, People's Republic of China. Recently, his diving team even won a silver medal in the 2010 Asian Games at Guangzhou, China. In 2012 he competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
