The Divine Mercy Shrine ( pl, Sanktuarium Bożego Miłosierdzia) in Kraków, Poland is a Roman Catholic basilica dedicated to the Divine Mercy devotion, and is the resting place of Faustina Kowalska, canonised by the Catholic Church on 30 April 2000. The new basilica was built between 1999 and 2002, and is located in the District of Łagiewniki at św. Faustyny street. The Divine Mercy Sanctuary of Vilnius or the Holy Trinity Church ( lt, Vilniaus Dievo Gailestingumo šventovė) is a shrine in Vilnius dedicated to the Divine Mercy, a devotion originated by Faustina Kowalska. History On the site of the present church (Dominikonų St. 12) a Gothic single-nave church was built in the 15th century and named Holy Trinity Church. It was reconstructed after the 1748 and 1749 fires: a new presbytery and two towers were built on, and in a place of a Gothic apse a new portal was erected. The church belonged to the university; one of its deans was the university rector, Jesuit astronomer Marcin Odlanicki Poczobutt. The tsarist authorities converted it into a Russian Orthodox church in 1821, but in 1920 it was returned to the Catholics. In Soviet times the church was abandoned. Description The chapel belongs to Zgromadzenie Sióstr Matki Bożej Miłosierdzia (the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy). Divine Mercy Sanctuary in Białystok is a church in the district of Białostoczek at the Radzymińska Street 1. History In August 1982, the City Council received a letter asking for permission to build a church. This was requested by the residents from Poleska Street. The positive answer came after a few months, in December of the same year. This took place after previous unsuccessful attempts by priest Zbigniew Krupski to obtain permission to build a temple at Poleska Street. It was erected in 1984. In 1988 the remains of Michał Sopoćko, the spiritual director of Faustina Kowalska, was moved here. In 1993 also a relic of Faustina Kowalska was set. In 1996 besides the church the papal altar from 1991 was reconstructed. Consecration of the church was held in 2007. On September 28, 2008 the solemn beatification of Michał Sopoćko took place here. The priests and Catholic and brothers of the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary have resided on Eden Hill in Stockbridge, since June 1944. Father Walter Pelczynski, MIC, with the assistance of local clergy and friends of the Marian community, initially purchased 50 of the that constituted the "Eden Hill" estate in November, 1943. The house was to serve as the novitiate for a newly formed province. An image of "The Divine Mercy" was enshrined in one of the small chapels where the members of the community prayed daily a perpetual novena to the Divine Mercy. Pilgrims began to arrive the very next spring to celebrate the Feast of The Divine Mercy (the Sunday after Easter).
