Divine Fits
Divine Fits was an American-Canadian indie rock band composed of Britt Daniel (Spoon), Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, Operators), Sam Brown, and Alex Fischel (Spoon). The group released their debut album, '' A Thing Called Divine Fits'', in 2012 on Merge Records. History The group formed in late 2011, after Daniel and Boeckner discussed forming a band together. Their first public performances were in Austin, Texas, where they had a surprise showing before having their official debut. Their first album, '' A Thing Called Divine Fits'', was released August 28, 2012 via Merge Records. It received positive reception from critics, with the Austinist and ''The Austin Chronicle'' praising the band. AllMusic scored it 4 out of 5 stars. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Dan Boeckner (; born 5 February 1978) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, guitarist and podcaster. He is best known as one of the frontmen of Wolf Parade, which he helped found in 2003. Since 2013, he has also been a member of the Montreal-based band Operators. Boeckner began his career in the Victoria, Canada music scene, playing in multiple bands including Atlas Strategic. Since that time, he has been part of projects including Handsome Furs and Divine Fits with Spoon frontman Britt Daniel. In 2022, Boeckner joined Arcade Fire in a session capacity, touring and performing with the band in support of their sixth studio album, '' WE''. Making his live debut at the Toulouse Theatre in New Orleans, Boeckner subsequently appeared in the video to the band's first single, "The Lightning I, II". It is the band's first album to feature Alex Fischel, who plays keyboards and guitar. Background The band took several years off following the release of ''Transference'' in 2010, giving each member time to explore other projects. Frontman Britt Daniel explained that the band members were "all a little burned out", and that he personally needed "something that was going to reinvigorate me, to excite me about working on new stuff again."
