District 10 is an electoral district in Malta. It was established in 1962. Its boundaries have changed many times but it currently consists of the localities of Gżira, Pembroke, St. Julian's, Sliema and part of Naxxar Naxxar ( mt, In-Naxxar) is a small city in the Northern Region of Malta, with a population of 14,891 people as of March 2014. He is a Special Envoy to the Prime Minister of Malta, and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Malta to the World Trade Organization. General elections were held in Malta on 12 December 1981.Dieter Nohlen & Philip Stöver (2010) ''Elections in Europe: A data handbook'', p1302 For the 1981 elections, the opposition Nationalist Party, reinvigorated with a new leader, looked set for a serious challenge to Mintoff. In fact, in that election, the ''Partit Nazzjonalista'' managed an absolute majority of votes, but it managed only 31 seats to the Labour Party's 34. Dom Mintoff said that he would not be ready to govern in such conditions and hinted that he would call for fresh elections within six months. However, this was not to be: Mintoff eventually accepted the President's invitation to form a government. This led to a political crisis whose effects continued through much of the 1980s, as well as increasing political violence in the street. Michael Refalo
Michael Refalo (25 February 1936 – 3 February 2015) was a Maltese politician and diplomat. He was a member of the Nationalist Party and sat in the House of Representatives between 1971 and 2003 and served terms first as parliamentary secretary and later as minister for tourism. Refalo was High Commissioner of Malta to the United Kingdom between 2005 and October 2008. He was also the editor of the ''Il-Mument'' newspaper from 1972 to 1980. Michael Falzon (politician)
Michael Falzon (born 16 November 1961 in Sliema, Malta) is a Member of the Maltese Parliament of the Malta Labour Party (PL). He stood as a candidate for the second (Vittoriosa, Senglea, Cospicua, Żabbar, Kalkara and Xgħajra) and tenth electoral (Gżira, Pembroke, Sliema and St. Julian's) divisions of Malta for the PL. He was elected from both districts. Family Falzon is the son of Mosè Falzon, and Carmela Falzon, ''née'' Said, from Gozo. Mosè owned a grocery store just down the road from the family home in Amery Street, Sliema, where Falzon would stay with him sometimes.
