Geography The Burnett River forms the southern boundary of the locality at an elevation of while Reid Creek (a tributary of the Burnett River) forms the eastern boundary. The land in the locality rises toward the north with two peaks: Mount Gayndah in the south of the locality at and an unnamed peak in the south-west at . A number of creeks rise in the locality and flow south or east to become tributaries of the Burnett River or Reid Creek respectively. The more mountainous areas are undeveloped land. The predominant land use is grazing with some irrigated farming near the Burnett River. History The locality takes its name from the Dirnbir railway station () on the now closed Mungar Junction to Monto branch railway. Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail
The Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail is a recreational route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders from Taragoola (near Calliope) to Gayndah. It uses the closed Gladstone to Monto and Mungar Junction to Monto railway corridors in Queensland, Australia. Route Only two sections of the Trail have been opened, up to September 2022. The Burnett River Bridges section is south of the Dawes Range Tunnel section. Waterways may be impassable after rain, as the bridges are not usable. Dawes Range Tunnel section The Dawes Range Tunnel section starts at Barrimoon Siding, Kalpowar and finishes at Builyan, Boyne Valley. The North Burnett Region is a local government area in Queensland, Australia in the northern catchment of the Burnett River. Established in 2008, it was preceded by several previous local government areas with histories extending back to the early 1900s. It has an estimated operating budget of A$32  million. The Mungar Junction to Monto railway line is a railway in Queensland, Australia. Progressively opened in eleven stages between 1889 and 1928 the line branched from the North Coast line at Mungar Junction a short distance west of Maryborough and followed a westerly route towards Biggenden and Gayndah before turning north via Mundubbera and Eidsvold to Monto. Mundubbera ( ) is a town and a locality in the North Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Mundubbera had a population of 1261 people. Mundubbera is the self-proclaimed "Citrus Capital of Queensland", although this is disputed by the neighbouring (and rival) town of Gayndah. Humphery Railway Bridge
Humphery Railway Bridge is a heritage-listed railway bridge on the Mungar to Monto railway line at Humphery, North Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by William Pagan and built in 1913. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History The concrete arch bridge supporting the railway line west of Humphery was constructed in 1913 as the last of several bridges on this line. A rail link was requested from Maryborough to the long established town of Gayndah in the 1860s, but construction did not begin until the late 1880s. The line opened to Brooweena in July 1889, Boompa in March 1891 and Biggenden in April 1891.
