Dirk Van Der Borg
D.R. (Dirk) van der Borg (born 3 November 1955 in Thesinge) is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA). Van der Borg has been acting mayor of Sliedrecht since 31 March 2020. Previously he was acting mayor of Molenlanden from 2019 to 2020, acting mayor of Molenwaard from 2013 to 2018, Nederlands Genootschap van Burgemeesters and mayor of Graafstroom from 2006 to 2012. Graafstroom became part of the new municipality of Molenwaard on 1 January 2013, and Molenwaard of the new municipality of Molenlanden on 1 January 2019. Thesinge
Thesinge (Gronings: ''Taisen'') is a village in the municipality of Groningen, in the Dutch province of Groningen. The Benedictine monastery of ''Germania'' was founded in Thesinge in 1205. History The village was first mentioned in 786 or 787 as Thelingi, and means "(monastery) of the people of Thiasa (person)". The Benedictine monastery Germania was founded in 1205 near the village. Thesinge is a ''terp'' (artificial living hill) village with a rectangular structure. The monastery was destroyed in 1584 during the Reformation. Most of the buildings were demolished 1629 except for the church. The St Felicitas Church of the monastery became the Dutch Reformed church. It was built in the 13th century, but extensively modified and rebuilt in 1786. The church was restored between 1972 and 1973. It was decommissioned in 1971, and is used to weddings. Rijssen-Holten (; Sallaans: ''Riesn-Hooltn'') is a municipality (Dutch: ''gemeente'') in the eastern Netherlands, in the province of Overijssel. Rijssen
Rijssen (; nds-nl, Riesn, ) is a city in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is part of Rijssen-Holten, one of thirteen municipalities in Twente. It has almost 28,000 inhabitants. The economy of Rijssen relies mostly on commerce and construction and transport companies. History Archeological evidence shows that the monk Lebuinus founded a church in Rijssen, as early as the seventh century, as part of a coordinated attempt to convert the local pagan Saxons to Christianity, though other archaeological finds, such as urns and grave mounds suggest habitation dating back as far as 5,000 years. The Christian Democratic Appeal ( nl, Christen-Democratisch Appèl, ; CDA) is a Christian-democratic political party in the Netherlands. It was originally formed in 1977 from a confederation of the Catholic People's Party, the Anti-Revolutionary Party and the Christian Historical Union; it has participated in all but three cabinets since it became a unitary party. Health Minister Hugo de Jonge served as Leader of the Christian Democratic Appeal from July 2020 until his resignation the following December.
