Dirk Demol
Dirk Demol (born 4 November 1959) is a Belgian former professional racing cyclist and a cycling team manager. He is currently assistant sports director of . As a rider, he specialized in the spring classics, having himself won the 1988 edition of the one-day classic Paris–Roubaix, riding as a professional cyclist for Team ADR. Racing career Demol grew up in Kuurne, Belgium. In 1987 he finished third at Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne. In 1988 he won Paris-Roubaix for Belgian pro team ADR. He retired from racing in 1995. Management career In 2000, Demol became assistant team manager for the U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling Team, a position he held until 2007. He then worked as team manager for Quick Step (2008), assistant team manager for Astana (2009), and assistant team manager for Team RadioShack (2010–2011). Kuurne
Kuurne () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises only the town of Kuurne proper. On January 1, 2006, Kuurne had a total population of 12,591. The total area is 10.01 km² which gives a population density of 1258 inhabitants per km². The Leie functions as a natural border between Kuurne and Harelbeke. Inhabitants from Kuurne are nicknamed 'donkeys'. This is said to be a term of derision given to them by the people of nearby Kortrijk because traders from Kuurne habitually set off for the Kortrijk market at an early hour, their ass-drawn carts laden with vegetables. Belgian National Road Race Championships
The Belgian National Road Race Championship is a cycling race which decides who will become Belgian national champion for the year to come. The record for most wins is currently held by one of the most successful Belgian sprinters, Tom Steels, who managed to take four road championship titles. The winners of each event are awarded with a symbolic cycling jersey, which is black, yellow and red, like the national flag. These colours can be worn by the rider at other road racing events to show their status as national champion. The GP Impanis-Van Petegem (also known as the Primus Classic) is a single-day road bicycle race held annually since 1982 in the region of Flemish Brabant, Belgium. The race was originally organized as a tribute to Raymond Impanis in and around Kampenhout and known as the GP Impanis. Between 1995 and 2004, the race was no longer organized, only to be reinstated in 2005 as a race only for juniors (under 21). In 2011, the race was again organised for professional cyclists and upgraded to a 1.2 event on the UCI Europe Tour. It was also renamed to GP Impanis-Van Petegem in honor of Peter Van Petegem. Since then, the race has started near Brakel, the birthplace of Van Petegem, and has finished close to Kampenhout, namely in Haacht.
