T14 (formerly DirecTV-14) is a communication satellite launched on December 6, 2014. It is the first satellite offering Ultra-HD 4K television services using Reverse DBS. The satellite adopted its current name in 2017. Overview The T14 satellite is the sixth satellite built by SSL (Space Systems/Loral) for operator DirecTV. T12 (satellite)
T12, formerly known as D12, is a Boeing model 702 satellite built by the Boeing Satellite Development Center. It was launched on December 29, 2009 and became operational on May 19, 2010. It is used by DirecTV to provide additional high definition channels and Video on demand content, as well as 3DTV channels and content. The satellite adopted its current name in 2017. Technology This satellite is similar to T10 and T11, but features a 17/24 GHz BSS payload carrying the moniker RB-2A. It is co-located with T10 very near 103.0°W. T11, formerly known as DirecTV-11, is a Boeing model 702 satellite built by the Boeing Satellite Development Center. Its current name was adopted in 2017. Technology This satellite is functionally identical to T10 and is co-located with SPACEWAY-2 at or very near 99.225°W. Launch data T11 had originally been scheduled for launch by Sea Launch in November, 2007. Following a launch failure at Sea Launch that resulted in damage to the facility, the expected launch date was changed to March 19, 2008. Launch occurred at 22:47:59 UTC on March 19, 2008, and the spacecraft separated from the carrier rocket 61 minutes later, following a successful ascent. Testing Boeing handed over the T11 satellite to DirecTV on Monday, July 21, 2008, according to a press release on the Boeing website. Spaceway-2 is part of DirecTV's constellation of direct broadcast satellites. The satellite was launched via an Arianespace Ariane 5, Ariane 5 ECA rocket from Kourou, French Guiana on 16 November 2005. Its operational position is in geosynchronous orbit above the equator at 99.2° West longitude. Spaceway-2 is a Boeing 702-model satellite with a 12-year life expectancy. It is expected to support high-definition television to DirecTV customers with its Ka band, Ka-band communications payload.
