Dipolog Boulevard
Dipolog Sunset Boulevard, or Foreshore Development and Wellness Center, is an esplanade in Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte along a 7.6 kilometers stretch of foreshore spanning from Sta. Cruz of Barangay Central to Purok Bularan of Barangay Miputak. It is equipped with basketball courts and playground part. It is also the site of the annual "P'gsalabuk Festival" and other similar events, motor company trade shows, and sporting events like marathons and triathlons. There are two commercial buildings augmenting the presently existing restaurants, bars, and several food and beverage peddlers. Extension is currently underway to extend the boulevard for another kilometer reaching the seaport of Galas making it a total of 2.6 kilometers. Long term plans for the boulevard is extending it in both ways of the city to southern part of Olingan and northern part of Barra creating a new river park esplanade. Dipolog
Dipolog, officially the City of Dipolog ( ceb, Dakbayan sa Dipolog; Subanen: ''Gembagel G'benwa Dipuleg/Bagbenwa Dipuleg''; Chavacano: ''Ciudad de Dipolog''; fil, Lungsod ng Dipolog), is a 3rd class component city and capital of the province of Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 138,141 people. Geographically, the city is surrounded by rolling hills to the southeast and the Sulu Sea to the north. Dipolog is known for its wild orchids and its sardine industry which stems from the rich fishing area off its shores. Jacobo Amatong
Jacobo Sybico Amatong (October 11, 1936 – September 24, 1984) was a Filipino lawyer, politician, and newspaper publisher from the province of Zamboanga del Norte. He was best known for founding the Mindanao Observer, a community newspaper which became well-known for criticizing the martial law administration of Ferdinand Marcos, and for being assassinated by uniformed soldiers on September 24, 1984. Amatong is honored by having his name etched on the wall of remembrance at the Philippines' Bantayog ng mga Bayani, which honors the heroes and martyrs who fought the authoritarian regime. In 2018, Amatong was also identified by the Human Rights Victims' Claims Board as a Motu Proprio human rights violations victim of the Martial Law Era. The Dipolog City Port, originally and formerly known as the Galas Feeder Port ( fil, Daungan ng Galas, ceb, Pantalan sa Galas), is a seaport in Dipolog City, Philippines. It is owned and managed by the City Government of Dipolog. History The Port of Dipolog started as a landing area for smaller fishing boats or ''bancas''. Later, the city government under the administration of Mayor Roseller Barinaga planned to erect docking platforms, and transform it into a feeder port to accommodate smaller sea vessels that cannot dock at nearby Port of Dapitan which is barely 12 kilometers away. Dipolog Airport ( Cebuano: ''Tugpahanan sa Dipolog'') is the main airport serving the general area of Dipolog, the capital city of Zamboanga del Norte, in the Philippines. The airport is one of the busiest in Mindanao, especially considering its classification.
