Dios Nunca Muere
Dios Nunca Muere ( en, God Never Dies) is a Mexican waltz written by composer and violinist Macedonio Alcalá in 1868. Is the ''de facto'' anthem of the state of Oaxaca. Dios Nunca Muere has been sung by famous singers like Pedro Infante and Javier Solís. There are two versions of the creation of this waltz. The first says that was composed when Macedonio Alcala and his wife went through a precarious economic situation and also the composer was at risk of dying, then his friend Roberto Maqueo, seeing their plight, left him without him noticing 12 pesos in silver. The other version says that some Indigenous people from a nearby village visited him to ask for a waltz for the patron of his people, and paid 12 pesos in silver. It is said that when Alcalá received the money, sat on his bed and drew on a wall the first bars of the waltz, which later transcribed on paper; He called this waltz ''Dios Nunca Muere'' in gratitude that he had received help when he needed. Macedonio Alcalá
Macedonio Alcalá Prieto (September 12, 1831 in Oaxaca, Oaxaca – August 24, 1869 in Oaxaca, Oaxaca) was a Mexican violinist, pianist and songwriter remembered today especially for his waltz, "Dios nunca muere" (God Never Dies). Alcalá was born in the City of Oaxaca in 1831. He showed an early interest in music and began attending a school established by Professor José Domingo Martinez. His musical talent was soon evident, and he learned to play the piano, cello, viola, flute, and ophicleide. He was an accomplished musician with all these instruments, but his main instrument was the violin. As a violinist, he was in demand not only in the churches but also at popular dances and social gatherings. His persistence and dedication were rewarded by a scholarship from the State of Oaxaca, allowing him to continue his studies in Mexico City. De Facto
''De facto'' ( ; , "in fact") describes practices that exist in reality, whether or not they are officially recognized by laws or other formal norms. Pedro Infante
Pedro Infante Cruz (; 18 November 1917 – 15 April 1957) was a Mexican ranchera music singer and actor, whose career spanned the golden age of Mexican cinema. His popularity spread across Latin America. Infante was born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, and raised in nearby Guamúchil. He died on 15 April 1957 in Mérida, Yucatán, while en route to Mexico City when his plane crashed due to engine failure. From 1939 until his death, Infante acted in over 60 films (30 of them with his brother Ángel) and recorded over 350 songs. For his performance in the movie ''Tizoc'', he was posthumously awarded the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 7th Berlin International Film Festival. Gabriel Siria Levario (4 September 1931 – 19 April 1966), known professionally as Javier Solís, was a Mexican singer and actor. He specialized in the musical genres of bolero and ranchera. Early life Gabriel Siria Levario was the first of three children of Francisco Siria Mora, a baker and butcher, and Juana Levario Plata, a trader.(Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, according to his own acknowledgement in an interview) Juana had a stall at a public market and as her spouse had allegedly abandoned her, she had little time save for work.
