Dion Woods
Dion Woods (born 25 January 1982) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Fremantle in the Australian Football League (AFL) between 2001 and 2005. Woods was drafted from Perth in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) as the 51st selection in the 2000 AFL draft and played mainly as a defender. Tall and athletic, Woods showed much promise in his first year, winning the Fremantle's Beacon Award in 2001 for the best young player and also being nominated for the AFL Rising Star award. His career peaked in 2003 playing in 21 matches, including Fremantle's first ever finals match, as a key member of the "no-name defence". However he struggled to maintain his form and spent most of the 2005 season playing for Perth before being delisted at the end of that season. He has since continued to play in the WAFL. Perth Football Club
The Perth Football Club, nicknamed the Demons, is an Australian rules football club based in Lathlain, Western Australia, currently playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Representing the south-east area of the Perth metropolitan region, the club currently trains and plays its home games at Lathlain Park (currently known, for sponsorship reasons, as Mineral Resources Park), having previously played at the WACA Ground between 1899 and 1958 and later in 1987 and 1988. The club was founded in 1899 and began play in the First Rate Junior Association, but was promoted to the WAFL after eight games to replace the Rovers Football Club after they dropped out of the league and folded, with Perth drawing much of its inaugural WAFL squad from Rovers. AFL Rising Star
The AFL Rising Star is an Australian rules football award presented annually to the player adjudged the best young player in the Australian Football League (AFL) for the year. It was first presented in the 1993 season, and was won by Nathan Buckley, playing for the Brisbane Bears. The recipient of the AFL Rising Star has been awarded the Ron Evans Medal since 2007, named in honour of the former AFL Commission chairman following his death that year. The award was sponsored by Norwich Union Australia from its inception in 1993 until 2000. Ashley Vernon McGrath (born 20 May 1983) is a retired indigenous Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League. Selected in the 2000 AFL Draft with the thirteenth pick overall, the Brisbane Lions recruited the talented forward, where he made his AFL debut late in 2001. He continued to establish himself in the side and by 2003, was a regular member, being part of the Lions' third straight AFL premiership. Toby Jason McGrath (born 11 October 1980) is an Australian rules footballer who played for South Fremantle in the West Australian Football League (WAFL).
