The diocese of Polog and Kumanovo was a diocese of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric in North Macedonia. It ceased to exist on 19 June 2013 when it was divided into the diocese of Kumanovo and Osogovo and the Diocese of Tetovo and Gostivar. From 1971 until his death in 2013, the head of Diocese of Polog and Kumanovo was Kiril. Eastern Orthodox
Eastern Orthodoxy, also known as Eastern Orthodox Christianity, is one of the three main branches of Chalcedonian Christianity, alongside Catholicism and Protestantism. Like the Pentarchy of the first millennium, the mainstream (or "canonical") Eastern Orthodox Church is organised into autocephalous churches independent from each other. In the 21st century, the number of mainstream autocephalous churches is seventeen; there also exist autocephalous churches unrecognized by those mainstream ones. Kriva Palanka
Kriva Palanka ( mk, Крива Паланка ) is a town located in the northeastern part of North Macedonia. It has 14,558 inhabitants. The town of Kriva Palanka is the seat of Kriva Palanka Municipality which has almost 21,000 inhabitants. The town lies near the ''Deve Bair'' national border crossing with Bulgaria; as such, there is nearly constant heavy traffic passing through the main road which bisects the two sides of the town (Deve Bair is considered the main border crossing between North Macedonia and Bulgaria because it links the capitals Skopje with Sofia). Etymology The name of the town derives from the curved riverbed of the river ''Kriva''. The old name of Kriva Palanka was ''Egri Dere'', in Turkish - "Curved River". Kumanovo ( mk, Куманово ; ) is a municipality located in the northern part of North Macedonia. ''Kumanovo'' is also the name of the city where the municipal seat is found. Kumanovo Municipality is part of the Northeastern Statistical Region. The Macedonian Orthodox Church – Archdiocese of Ohrid (MOC-AO; mk, Македонска православна црква – Охридска архиепископија), or simply the Macedonian Orthodox Church (MOC) or the Archdiocese of Ohrid (AO), is an autocephalous Eastern Orthodox church in North Macedonia.
