The Diocese of Matlosane (formerly the Diocese of Klerksdorp) is a diocese of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. The diocese was founded in 1990, divided from the Anglican Diocese of Johannesburg. It occupies the central part of the North West province in South Africa. The Anglican Church of Southern Africa, known until 2006 as the Church of the Province of Southern Africa, is the province (Anglican), province of the Anglican Communion in the southern part of Africa. The church has twenty-five dioceses, of which twenty-one are located in South Africa, and one each in Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and Saint Helena. In South Africa, there are between 3 and 4 million Anglicans out of an estimated population of 45 million. The Anglican Diocese of Johannesburg is part of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. It was formed in 1922 from the southern part of the Diocese of Pretoria, and at that time included the whole of the southern Transvaal. Today it is much smaller, and comprises the central part of Gauteng province. The Cathedral of the Diocese of Johannesburg, is the Cathedral Church of Saint Mar the Virgin. The headquarters of the Diocese and the Bishops office are Situated at St.Joseph's Diocesan Centre in Sophiatown, Johannesburg. North West (South African Province)
North West is a province of South Africa. Its capital is Mahikeng. The province is located to the west of the major population centre of Gauteng and south of Botswana. History North West was incorporated after the end of Apartheid in 1994, and includes parts of the former Transvaal Province and Cape Province, as well as most of the former bantustan of Bophuthatswana. It was the scene of political violence in Khutsong, Merafong City Local Municipality in 2006 and 2007, after cross-province municipalities were abolished and Merafong Municipality was transferred entirely to North West. David Nkwe
David Cecil Tapi Nkwe (1935-2008) was a South African Anglican bishop: he was the Bishop of Matlosane from 1990 to 2006. He was rector of St Paul, Soweto from 1965 to 1990. He was elected to start the Diocese of Matlosane with headquarters in Klerksdorp, North West. He remained the bishop of Matlosane until he retired in 2006. Molopi Diseko
Molopi Diseko is a South African Anglican bishop. He has been the Bishop of Matlosane since 2007. Diseko was educated at the Lelapa La Jesu Seminary in Lesotho, the College of the Resurrection at Mirfield and the University of the North West, Potchefstroom. He was ordained deacon in 1990 and to the priesthood the following year. In 2004, as parish priest of the Church of the Resurrection, Ikageng, he became the first Dean of the newly inaugurated Cathedral of the Resurrection.
