Diocese Of Bridgetown-Kingstown
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgetown ( la, Dioecesis Pontipolitana) is a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church in the Caribbean. The diocese encompasses the entirety of the former British dependency of Barbados. The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain, and a member of the Antilles Episcopal Conference. Erected in 1970 as the Diocese of Bridgetown-Kingstown, the diocese was split on 23 October 1989 into the Diocese of Bridgetown and the Diocese of Kingstown. In September 2011, Father Jason Gordon was consecrated Bishop of this Diocese, after the retirement of Bishop Malcolm Galt in May 2005. Both Bishops Malcolm Galt and Jason Gordon are clergy native to Trinidad . The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Port of Spain ( la, Archidioecesis Portus Hispaniae) is a metropolitan diocese of the Latin Church of the Roman Catholic Church in the Caribbean. The archdiocese encompasses the entirety of the former Spanish dependency of Trinidad, including the islands of Trinidad and Tobago. The archdiocese is the Metropolitan responsible for the suffragan Dioceses of Bridgetown, Georgetown, Paramaribo and Willemstad, and is a member of the Antilles Episcopal Conference. The diocese of Port of Spain was originally erected as a vicariate apostolic in 1818 and elevated to an archdiocese in April 1830. Drogheda ( , ; , meaning "bridge at the ford") is an industrial and port town in County Louth on the east coast of Ireland, north of Dublin. The Catholic Church in Barbados is part of the worldwide Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope in Rome. Charles Jason Gordon
Charles Jason Gordon (born 17 March 1959) is a Trinidadian Roman Catholic prelate and the current Metropolitan Archbishop of Port of Spain since his appointment in 2017. He had served prior to this as a parish priest for the locality of Gonzales, approximately 1.9 km/1.2 miles outside Port of Spain, before serving as the bishop for both Bridgetown and Kingston. Gordon is known for his opposition to death sentences and favours peacemaking and bridge building in local disputes and gang violence. Life Charles Jason Gordon was born in Trinidad and Tobago on 17 March 1959. Gordon managed his father's failing business after his father died and managed to make it profitable all the while becoming involved in parish initiatives that led him to decide to enter the religious life. Malcolm Patrick Galt
Malcolm Patrick Galt C.S.Sp. (9 July 1929 – 16 October 2022) was the Roman Catholic bishop of the diocese of Bridgetown, Barbados from 23 April 1995 to 31 May 2005. Galt was born on 9 July 1929 in Trinidad and Tobago. He completed his seminary work in philosophy at Marian University in Montreal and theology at the Holy Ghost Missionary College, Kimmage Manor, Dublin in Ireland and was ordained a priest on 10 July 1955 as a member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, a Catholic religious order also known as the Holy Ghost Fathers. He served in various positions, including missionary work in Nigeria, where he taught at Christ the King College, and later in Lagos where he helped to provide food to refugees during the civil war. Anthony Hampden Dickson (3 November 1935 – 29 November 2022) was a Jamaican clergyman and bishop for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgetown. The Roman Rite ( la, Ritus Romanus) is the primary liturgical rite of the Latin Church, the largest of the ''sui iuris'' particular churches that comprise the Catholic Church.
