Dingli Swallows Football Club is a Maltese football club from the small village of Ħad-Dingli, which currently plays in the Maltese National Amateur League. The club was founded in 1948. History In the 2008–09 season the club won the Maltese First Division gaining promotion to Maltese Premier League for the first time in their history. Maltese National Amateur League
The Maltese National Amateur League (referred to as the IZIBet Amateur League for sponsorship reasons) is the third-highest division in Maltese football, replacing the Maltese Second Division and Maltese Third Division during the 2020–21 season following the premature end of the previous football season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Format Following the merger of the Maltese Second and Third Divisions the league is made up of two groups. Over the course of the season, each team plays twice against the others in their group. Three points are awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. The teams are ranked in the table by: # Total points gained In the need of a tie-breaker, a play-off game is played. 2021–22 Maltese National Amateur League
The 2021–22 Maltese National Amateur League (referred to, for sponsorship reasons, as the BOV National Amateur League), was the third level league football in Malta. This is the second season since the unification of both the Second and Third Divisions into the three group Amateur League system. Żurrieq won the title by beating fellow group winners Attard in the championship final. The second-placed promotion play-off saw Marsaskala defeat Għargħur by 2 goals to 1 with Għargħur facing Mtarfa in the promotion play-off final. Mtarfa won all four of their post-league stage games, in the process winning the play-off final against Għargħur to win promotion to the Challenge League. Ħad-Dingli
Dingli ( mt, Ħad-Dingli) is a village in the Northern Region of Malta, with a population of 3,865 as of 2021. It is from the capital Valletta and two kilometers () from the nearest town, Rabat. The village lies on a plateau some 250 metres above sea level, which is one of the highest points of Malta. The area provides not only open sea views over the tiny, uninhabited isle of Filfla, but is also a good vantage point over Malta. From the cliffs there are also views of the nearby Buskett Gardens and Verdala Palace. The Cliffs were also the site of the mysterious death of Mike Mansholt. The Maltese Premier League, known as BOV Premier League for sponsorship reasons with Bank of Valletta (colloquially known as ''Il-Kampjonat Premjer''), is the highest level of professional football in Malta. Managed by the Malta Football Association, the Premier League is contested by 16 teams and operates on a promotion and relegation system with the Challenge League. As of June 2022, the Premier League ranks 46th out of 55 members in the UEFA coefficient. 2008–09 Maltese First Division
The 2008–09 Maltese First Division season (known as 2008–09 BOV First Division for sponsorship reasons) started in October 2008 and ended in May 2009. Pieta Hotspurs and Mqabba were relegated from the Premier League. The promoted teams were San Gwann and Rabat Ajax. Dingli Swallows and Vittoriosa Stars finished the league as joint first with the same number of points. Both were promoted but a decider had to be played to decide who the champions would be. The decider was won by Dingli by the score of 2–1. At the other end Rabat Ajax and Senglea Athletic were relegated to the Second Division.
