Gord Dineen
Gordon M. Dineen (born September 21, 1962) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. As of 2019, he is an assistant coach of the Rochester Americans. He is a former head coach for the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, and a longtime assistant with several other teams. Although born in Canada, Dineen spent much of his youth in the United States, while his father Bill Dineen played and coached professionally. He returned to Canada to play major junior hockey for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He was drafted by the New York Islanders with the forty-second pick in the 1981 draft. His brothers Kevin and Peter were also NHL players. Playing career Junior Dineen was drafted in the fifth round, 54th overall, by the Sault Ste. Kevin William Dineen (born October 28, 1963) is a Canadians, Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player. , Dineen is the head coach of the Utica Comets in the American Hockey League (AHL). Seán Dineen (born February 1944) is an Irish mathematician specialising in complex analysis. His academic career was spent, in the main, at University College Dublin (UCD) where he was Professor of Mathematics, serving as Head of Department and as Head of the School of Mathematical Sciences before retiring in 2009. Education Seán Dineen was born in Clonakilty, Co. Cork, Ireland in February 1944. He attended St Mary's, the first secondary school for boys in Clonakilty, which his parents Jerry (Jeremiah) and Margaret Dineen had founded in 1938. Bobby Dineen
Robert Joseph Dineen (5 January 1919 – 11 November 1984) was an Irish hurler and coach. At club level he played with Midleton and Fermoy and was also a member of the Cork senior hurling team. Club career Born in Midleton, County Cork, Dineen first played hurling and Gaelic football as a student at St. Colman's College in Fermoy. He also won a South of Ireland schools tennis championship as a schoolboy. Dineen later played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with St. Enda's and won the East Cork MHC title in 1936 before being beaten by Glen Rovers for the county honours. He also joined the Midleton senior team, however, his studies for the priesthood impacted on his playing career and his one and only championship game was the 1938 semi-final defeat of Sarsfields. Bill Dineen
William Patrick "Foxy" Dineen (September 18, 1932 – December 10, 2016) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and head coach. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Black Hawks between 1953 and 1958. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1953 to 1971, was spent in the minor leagues. After his playing career Dineen became a coach and worked in the World Hockey Association from 1972 to 1979. He was the head coach for the Houston Aeros for all six seasons before coaching the Hartford Whalers for the 1978-79 season. The architect of a team in roster construction, Dineen's Aeros reached the playoffs in every season of their history and won the Avco World Trophy twice. Donal Dineen (born 5 May 1969) is an Irish radio presenter, photographer, film maker and former television presenter from County Kerry. Until recently he presented an assortment of loud ' noise/ electronica and world music on his ''Small Hours'' (formerly ''Here Comes the Night'') late-night radio show on Today FM. This show has now been cancelled for commercial reasons. He is also known for presenting the now defunct ''No Disco'' TV series on Network 2. Peter Dineen
Peter Kevin Dineen (born November 19, 1960) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played 13 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings between 1986 and 1989. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1980 to 1991, was spent in the American Hockey League. He is the second oldest of the Dineen brothers (Kevin and Gord), and son of Bill Dineen who all also played in the NHL. He has been a professional hockey scout for the Minnesota North Stars, Philadelphia Flyers, Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins, and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Daniel Gary Patrick Dineen (December 24, 1943 – April 1, 2006) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach. Dineen played five seasons with the Canadian national amateur team, including at the 1964 and 1968 Winter Olympics where he won a bronze medal at the latter, before joining the professional leagues in 1968. Robert Dineen
Robert Francis Dineen (July 8, 1937 - February 15, 1961) was an American ice dancer who competed with his wife Patricia Dineen. The duo won Silver (Junior) dance title at the 1960 United States Figure Skating Championships and then the bronze in the senior division at the 1961 United States Figure Skating Championships, earning them the right to compete a month later at the World Championships in Prague. He and his wife died on February 15, 1961 when Sabena Flight 548 crashed en route to the World Championships. They left behind an infant son, Robert Jr., who was adopted by Dineen's brother.
