Dindi Gowa Nyasulu
Dindi Gowa Nyasulu (August 3, 1944 – December 11, 2012) was a renowned engineer, a Malawian politician and former head of AFORD, Malawi's fifth largest political party. He was born in Luwuchi village in Rumphi to Amos Gowa Nyasulu and Mary Ana Nyaukandawire. He died on December 11, 2012, in South Africa. At the time of his death, his name was associated to the design of many major roads and bridges in the Republic of Malawi. Career After receiving his masters, he worked as a civil servant at Ministry of works where he rose to the title of Controller of lands valuation and water. He was retired early on political grounds after which he went to South Africa and worked for the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research of Southern Africa as the technical manager. Alliance For Democracy (Malawi)
The Alliance for Democracy is a political party in Malawi that marked its history as laying the foundation for multi-party rule in Malawi. It began as an underground political movement during the Kamuzu Banda era and later evolved to a political party during the multi-party era under the leadership of trade union activist, Chakufwa Chihana. Rumphi
Rumphi is the capital of the Rumphi District (Rumphi Boma) in the Northern Region of Malawi. It is a lively town with a market which serves the widespread farming community. Rumphi is noted for the kindness of the people (it is even rude to pass by someone without greeting them). It is directly on the way to Nyika National Park Nyika Plateau and Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve. Unlike its larger neighbour, Mzuzu, which has mild sunny weather almost all year, Rumphi has a differing climate. The town, being surrounded by hills, always has a nice wind. The town is bounded by the Rumphi river in the east and the South Rukuru River in the south. Rumphi is famous for the cattle market. Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi Limited (ESCOM) is the state-owned power transmission and distribution company in Malawi. It is entirely in control of transmission and distribution of electric power in the country. ESCOM represents Malawi in the Southern African Power Pool. Livingstonia or Kondowe is a town located in the Northern Region, Malawi, Northern Region Districts of Malawi, district of Rumphi District, Rumphi in Malawi. It is north of the capital, Lilongwe, and connected by road to Chitimba on the shore Lake Malawi. History Livingstonia was founded in 1894 by missionaries from the Free Church of Scotland (1843–1900), Free Church of Scotland. The missionaries had first established a mission in 1875 at Cape Maclear, which they named Livingstonia after David Livingstone, whose death in 1873 had rekindled British support for missions in Eastern Africa. Dedza Secondary School
Dedza is the main township of Dedza District in the Central Region of Malawi. Description Dedza is located about 85 km south of Malawi's capital, Lilongwe, off the M1 road to Blantyre at a point where a trans-African highway from Johannesburg enters the country. At an altitude of 1590m it is the highest town in Malawi. In June and July it can be chilly, especially in the mornings and evenings. The town is based around a bypass loop of tarmac road connected to the M1.
