Dinara Wagner ( born 25 May 1999) is a Kalmyk-born German chess player. Until 2022, she played for the Chess Federation of Russia. In 2023 she won the final leg of the Women’s Grand Prix as the lowest rated player in the field. Dennis Wagner (born 19 June 1997) is a German chess grandmaster. Chess career Born in 1997, Wagner won the U10 German Chess Championship in 2007. He competed in the World U12 Chess Championship in 2008, placing ninth. He won the U12 German Chess Championship in 2009. He also placed second in the U14 German Chess Championship in 2010, and second in the U16 German Chess Championship in 2011. In December 2011, he won the Paderborn Cup, scoring 6½/7 (+6–0=1) for a of over 2700. Tan Zhongyi (; born 29 May 1991) is a Chinese chess player who holds the title of grandmaster (GM). She is a former Women's World Champion, winning the 2017 knockout edition of the world championship in Iran where she defeated Anna Muzychuk in the final. Tan is the reigning Women's World Rapid Champion. She is the three-time reigning Chinese women's national champion, and is a four-time national champion overall with titles in 2015, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Career Tan was born in Chongqing. Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Lagno (russian: Екатерина Александровна Лагно, ; born 27 December 1989) is a Russian (formerly Ukrainian) chess grandmaster. A chess prodigy, she earned the title Woman Grandmaster (WGM) at the age of 12 years, four months and two days. In 2007, she was awarded the grandmaster title. She is a twice European Women's Champion and won two team gold medals at the Women's Chess Olympiad, in 2006 and 2014, playing for Ukraine and Russia respectively. Alina Anatolyevna Kashlinskaya (russian: Алина Анатольевна Кашлинская; born 28 October 1993) is a Russian-born Polish chess player. She holds the titles International Master and Woman Grandmaster, which FIDE awarded her in 2014 and 2009, respectively. Kashlinskaya is the 2019 European Women's Individual Chess Champion. Elo Rating System
The Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in zero-sum games such as chess. It is named after its creator Arpad Elo, a Hungarian-American physics professor. The Elo system was invented as an improved chess-rating system over the previously used Harkness system, but is also used as a rating system in association football, American football, baseball, basketball, pool, table tennis, and various board games and esports. The difference in the ratings between two players serves as a predictor of the outcome of a match. Two players with equal ratings who play against each other are expected to score an equal number of wins. A player whose rating is 100 points greater than their opponent's is expected to score 64%; if the difference is 200 points, then the expected score for the stronger player is 76%.
