Dimitri Nasrallah
Dimitri Nasrallah (born 1977) is a Lebanese Canadian writer and academic. He is most noted for his 2022 novel ''Hotline'', which was longlisted for the 2022 Giller Prize. Born in Lebanon in the early years of the Lebanese Civil War, Nasrallah's family took refuge in Cyprus and Greece before immigrating to Montreal in 1988. His debut novel, ''Blackbodying'', was published in 2004, and was the winner of the McAuslan First Book Prize from the Quebec Writers' Federation Awards in 2005. His second novel, ''Niko'', was published in 2011, and his third novel, ''The Bleeds'', followed in 2018. His latest book, ''Hotline,'' published in 2022, was selected for the 2023 edition of '' Canada Reads'', where it was championed by Gurdeep Pandher. Nasrallah is also a professor of creative writing at Concordia University, and the chief editor for Esplanade Books, the fiction imprint of Véhicule Press. Gurdeep Pandher
Gurdeep Pandher is a Sikh-Canadian, Yukon-based author, teacher and performer, who makes Punjabi dance videos. Gurdeep was born into a farming family, in a small village in Siahar, Punjab. He moved to Canada in 2006 and became a Canadian citizen in 2011. Moving to Canada inspired him to tour the entire country and further understand his adopted nation. He has lived in numerous Canadian provinces, including small Canadian villages, but found his home in a wilderness cabin in Yukon. Gurdeep teaches diverse groups across Canada, building cross-cultural bridges and encouraging acceptance, inclusivity and positive race-relations. In an effort to promote intercultural understanding throughout Canada, Gurdeep has blended Bhangra with various other cultural dances present in the country. Véhicule Press
The Vehicule Poets was a collective formed in Montreal in the 1970s by poets Endre Farkas, Artie Gold, Tom Konyves, Claudia Lapp, John McAuley, Stephen Morrissey and Ken Norris, who shared an interest in experimental American poetry and European avant-garde literature and art. While they were each distinct in their own writing, and published books as individuals, they were collectively involved in organizing readings, art events, and in controlling their own means of literary production through the development of a variety of periodicals and collective publishing ventures. In 1979, John McAuley’s Maker Press published a collective anthology, ''The Vehicule Poets''. Six of the original Vehicule poets are still active as poets, artists and teachers.
