Richmond And Twickenham Times
The ''Richmond and Twickenham Times'' is a weekly local newspaper that was established in 1873 and is published on Fridays. It covers the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames in south-west London and surrounding areas. It is delivered free to 35,232 homes in the borough, with (as at 2012) another 634 copies picked up free, and 2,663 copies sold for 55p. History The ''Richmond and Twickenham Times'' was established in 1873 by 26-year-old Edward King who ran the paper for 21 years until he was declared insane in 1894. From 1896 it was owned by the Dimbleby family. Richard Dimbleby was managing editor and editor-in-chief from 1946. After his death in 1965, his son David Dimbleby took over. The paper was sold by the Dimblebys to Newsquest in 2001. In April 2003 when he retired, Malcolm Richards was the country's longest serving newspaper editor, having filled the role for 27 years. Josceline Rose Dimbleby (née Gaskell; born 1943) is a British cookery writer. She has written seventeen cookery books, and was cookery correspondent of ''The Sunday Telegraph'' for 15 years. Early life and education Dimbleby was born in 1943. She is the daughter of Thomas Josceline Gaskell (1906-1982) and Barbara Jowett (died 1998), whose father Percy Hague Jowett was principal of London's Royal College of Art. In 1948, her mother Barbara Jowett married again, to Sir William Montagu-Pollock. Kate Dimbleby (born 1973) is an English cabaret singer and songwriter. Early life Kate Dimbleby was born in London, England, the daughter of the broadcaster David Dimbleby, and the cookery writer Josceline Dimbleby. She is the granddaughter of Richard Dimbleby, niece of Jonathan Dimbleby, sister of food campaigner and entrepreneur Henry Dimbleby. She attended St Paul's Girls School in Hammersmith, London, before gaining a BA in English Literature from the University of Birmingham. Jonathan Dimbleby (born 31 July 1944) is a British presenter of current affairs and political radio and television programmes, author and historian. He is the son of Richard Dimbleby and younger brother of television presenter David Dimbleby. Education Dimbleby was educated at Charterhouse, a boys' independent school in Surrey. Later, he studied farm management at the Royal Agricultural College and graduated in 1965. He then studied philosophy at University College, London, where he was editor of the student newspaper '' Pi'', and graduated in 1970.
