Dima Slobodeniouk
Dima Slobodeniouk (Димa Слободенюк;( born 1975) is a Finnish conductor based in Finland. Biography As a youth, Slobodeniouk began his violin studies in Moscow, from 1980 to 1989, at the Moscow Central Music School, where his teachers included Zinaida Gilels. He settled in Finland at age 17. Slobodeniouk continued his violin studies at the Conservatory of Central Finland and the Sibelius Academy. He was also in the conducting class of the Sibelius Academy, where his teachers included Leif Segerstam, Jorma Panula and Atso Almila. Slobodeniouk was principal guest conductor of the Kymi Sinfonietta from 2004 to 2006. From 2005 to 2008, he was chief conductor of the Oulu Symphony Orchestra (Oulu Sinfonia). He was artistic director of the Korsholm Music Festival in 2007 and in 2009. In November 2012, Slobodeniouk first-guest conducted the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia (OSG). Dalia Stasevska (born 30 December 1984) is a Finnish conductor. She is currently the principal guest conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and chief conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra. Biography Born in Kyiv, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union, Stasevska and her family subsequently moved to Tallinn, and later to Finland when she was five. Her family lived in Helsinki for a year, and then moved to Tampere in southwest Finland. As a youth, Stasevska learnt the violin. She formally studied violin and composition at the Tampere Conservatory. She continued her musical studies in violin and viola at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki. In her 20s, she developed a new interest in conducting, and pawned her violin to finance education in conducting. Okko Kamu
Okko Tapani Kamu (born 7 March 1946, Helsinki, Finland) is a Finnish orchestral conductor and violinist. Kamu was born into a family of musicians. His father played double bass in the Helsinki Philharmonic. He began violin studies at age two and entered the Sibelius Academy at age six. He formed his own string quartet, the Suhonen, in 1964 where he played first violin. At age 20, he was appointed first solo violinist at the Finnish National Opera, and held this post until 1968. He then began to conduct, initially with the Finnish National Opera orchestra. Primarily self-taught, he became principal guest conductor of the Royal Swedish Opera in 1969, the same year as he won the first Herbert von Karajan Conducting Competition in Berlin.
