Dilys Price
Dilys Price (3 June 19329 October 2020) was a Welsh educator, parachutist, and model who held the record for the oldest female solo parachute jump at the age of 80. She founded the charity Touch Trust to provide art and creative movement activities. Career Until retirement Price was a senior lecturer at the Cardiff College of Education. She specialised in the art of movement and dance and had been taught by Rudolph Laban. From the 1970s she had become involved in applying her knowledge to the education of children and adults with special needs. Her innovations led to a new major option course in Adaptive Physical Education for Special Needs in the Physical Education Department at her college in the 1980s. She was a member of the team that led to the opening of the Wales Sports Centre for the Disabled in the (now) Cardiff Metropolitan University in 1996. Parachuting
Parachuting, including also skydiving, is a method of transiting from a high point in the atmosphere to the surface of Earth with the aid of gravity, involving the control of speed during the descent using a parachute or parachutes. Rudolf Von Laban
Rudolf von Laban, also known as Rudolf Laban (German; also ''Rudolph von Laban'', hu, Lábán Rezső János Attila, Lábán Rudolf; 15 December 1879 – 1 July 1958), was an Austro-Hungarian, German and British dance artist, choreographer and dance theorist. He is considered a "founding father of expressionist dance", and a pioneer of modern dance. His theoretical innovations included Laban movement analysis (a way of documenting human movement) and Labanotation (a movement notation system), which paved the way for further developments in dance notation and movement analysis. He initiated one of the main approaches to dance therapy. His work on theatrical movement has also been influential. Helmut Lang (fashion Brand)
The Helmut Lang fashion brand was created by Austrian fashion designer Helmut Lang in 1986. The Helmut Lang brand was acquired from its founder by fashion label Prada in 2004. The label Helmut Lang, a fashion autodidact, set up a made-to-measure fashion studio in Vienna in 1977 and opened a boutique there in 1979 at the age of 23. His clothes were fairly successful in his native Austria, and, after presenting his work as part of an exhibition titled "l'Apocalypse Joyeuse" at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, initiated by the Austrian government, he branched out successfully to Paris in 1986 and created the label "Helmut Lang". Pride Of Britain Awards
The Pride of Britain Awards is an annual award ceremony which has taken place in the United Kingdom since May 1999 and first televised on ITV in April 2000. The awards honour British people who have acted bravely or extraordinarily in challenging situations and have been presented solely by Carol Vorderman since 1999, and co-presented by Ashley Banjo since 2021. Banjo had previously featured as the show's "roving reporter". History The first Pride of Britain Awards were devised by Peter Willis, and held at the Dorchester Hotel in London in May 1999.
