Dik Abed
Sulaiman "Dik" Abed (22 October 1944 – 19 January 2018) was a cricketer. Born in South Africa, he played professionally in England and later captained the Netherlands. Life and career Abed was born to a Cape Malay family in District Six, Cape Town, South Africa. He was one of five brothers. He grew up playing club cricket in the Western Province Cricket Association, which at the time was unsegregated, but was ineligible to play at provincial level because of his race during apartheid. He represented the Western Province non-white team before moving to England in 1967 to see if he could establish himself as a professional in league cricket. Abed played as Enfield's professional in the Lancashire League for 10 seasons, from 1967 to 1976, scoring 5271 runs at an average of 27.17 and taking 855 wickets at 10.27 with his fast-medium bowling. Alan Oakman
Alan Stanley Myles Oakman (20 April 1930 – 6 September 2018) was an English first-class cricketer. He had a long career for Sussex, playing 538 first-class matches over a 21-year period, and played two Test matches for England. He also umpired one One Day International after his retirement as a player. Life and career A former Welsh Guardsman, and a more than dependable county all-rounder, Oakman used his unusual height () to gain bounce for his off-spinners, and got well forward to drive while at the batting crease. He passed a thousand runs in a season on nine occasions, took 99 wickets in 1954 and his telescopic skill as a close fielder snared him five catches in Jim Laker's famous 19 wicket haul at Old Trafford, and totalled 594 catches in his career. 1982 ICC Trophy
The 1982 ICC Trophy was a limited-overs cricket tournament held in England between 16 June and 10 July 1982. It was the second ICC Trophy tournament to be staged, with matches between the 16 participating teams played over 60 overs a side and with white clothing and red balls. As in the 1979 tournament, all matches were played in the Midlands, though on this occasion the final was held at Grace Road, Leicester. The tournament served as the Cricket World Cup qualification process – Zimbabwe, who didn't play in the first tournament, defeated Bermuda in the final to qualify for the 1983 World Cup. Bad weather hampered the tournament throughout, with many games called off early or abandoned entirely because of rain; West Africa suffered most, seeing a result in only two of their seven group matches. Sri Lanka, who won the first tournament in 1979, had by now been promoted to Full Test and ODI status, and so did not take part, and automatically qualified for the World Cup. As ... VRA Amsterdam
VRA Amsterdam (Volharding RAP Amstels) is a cricket club in Amstelveen, Netherlands. It was founded on September 5, 1914 from the merger of Volharding (1889), RAP (1887) and Amstels C.C. (1885). In the early years the club played visiting English teams at locations like the Vondelpark, Museumplein and the Olympic Stadium. In 1939 VRA moved to the Amsterdamse Bos, where it is located right next to the international Wagener Stadium. The 14,500-capacity VRA Cricket Ground is one of the few grounds on the European mainland with a grass wicket and has become a hub of international cricket. HBS Craeyenhout
HBS Craeyenhout is a omnisports club based in The Hague that fields teams in association football, cricket and hockey. The club is best known for its football team, which is one of the original clubs of Dutch football, and three times national champions (1903–04, 1905–06,1924–1925). The football club refused to enter into professionalism in the 1950s and has played at the amateur level ever since. It currently plays in the Hoofdklasse.
