Digitaal Vrouwenlexicon Van Nederland
''1001 Vrouwen uit de Nederlandse geschiedenis'' is a compilation of 1001 biographies of famous women of the Netherlands spanning roughly 1700 years. Project The book is the result of a research project called the Digital Women's lexicon of the Netherlands (''Digitaal Vrouwenlexicon van Nederland'') led by Els Kloek. The biographies are presented in alphabetical order, and can also be viewed online. This database is searchable by period, birth city (over 200 biographies are of women born in Amsterdam), and occupation (almost 200 biographies are of artists) The breakdown of biographies per period according to the website (which is still growing) is as follows: Over 300 writers contributed biographies. Marie-Anne Collot
Marie-Anne Collot (1748 – 24 February 1821) was a French sculptor. She was the student and daughter-in-law of Étienne Falconet and is most well known as a portraitist, close to the philosophic and artistic circles of Diderot and Catherine the Great. Falconet's student Marie-Anne Collot was born in Paris and started to work as a model at the age of 15 in the workshop of Jean-Baptiste II Lemoyne. He had a determining influence on her career as a portraitist. She then entered Etienne Falconet's workshop, who was a close friend of Diderot. She became Falconet's pupil and faithful friend. Her younger brother became an apprentice at the publisher's André le Breton, who was one of the four publishers of Diderot and D'Alembert's Encyclopédie. Ada of Scotland (died after 1206), also known as Ada of Huntingdon, was a member of the Scottish royal house who became Countess of Holland by marriage to Floris III, Count of Holland. Life Ada was born in Scotland, the daughter of Henry of Huntingdon (1114–1152) and Ada de Warenne (died ). Margaretha Geertruida MacLeod (née Zelle; 7 August 187615 October 1917), better known by the stage name Mata Hari (), was a Dutch exotic dancer and courtesan who was convicted of being a spy for Germany during World War I. Helene Kröller-Müller (11 February 1869 – 14 December 1939) was a German art collector. She was one of the first European women to put together a major art collection. She is credited with being one of the first collectors to recognise the genius of Vincent van Gogh. She donated her entire collection to the Dutch people, along with her and her husband, Anton Kröller's, large forested country estate.
