Digimon Adventure (film)
is a 1999 Japanese animated short film, directed by Mamoru Hosoda in his directorial debut. A part of the ''Digimon'' media franchise, ''Digimon Adventure'' is the first ''Digimon'' film, and serves as a prologue to the 1999 anime television series of the same name. The film was released in theaters in Japan on March 6, 1999, the day before the release of the ''Digimon Adventure'' television series. Plot In Tokyo, a creature hatches from an egg that emerges from a computer screen in the home of Taichi Yagami and his younger sister Hikari Yagami. Upon being cared for by the children, it transforms into a dinosaur-like creature that begins wandering the streets of the city. A second egg appears in the sky over Tokyo, from which a bird-like creature emerges. Taichi, Hikari, and several other children witness the two creatures fight; with Taichi and Hikari's encouragement, the dinosaur emerges victorious and both creatures vanish. Mamoru Hosoda
is a Japanese film director and animator. He was nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Animated Feature Film at the 91st Academy Awards for his eighth film '' Mirai''. Life and career Early life and initial work at Toei Animation Hosoda was born in Kamiichi, Nakaniikawa District, Toyama, Japan. His father worked as a railway engineer, and his mother was a tailor. Hosoda initially felt inspired to take up animation as a career after seeing ''The Castle of Cagliostro'', the first film directed by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli fame. He majored in oil painting at the Kanazawa College of Art in Ishikawa Prefecture. After graduation, Hosoda was able to land an animation job at Toei Animation, after submitting a short film that he had animated in his spare time. Toshiko Fujita
was a Japanese actress, voice actress, singer and narrator. She was affiliated with Aoni Production at the time of her death. Biography Since the age of 8 in 1958, Fujita worked in radio and television as an actress, singer and comedian. In addition, she also sang theme songs for anime such as the 1969 adaptation of ''Dororo''. She also dubbed several English-language films in Japanese, as well as lending her voice to anime, such as '' Ikkyū-san'' (Ikkyu), ''Kiteretsu Daihyakka'' (Kiteretsu ), ''Digimon Adventure'' ( Taichi Yagami), ''Fist of the North Star'' (Mamiya) and '' Cat's Eye'' (Rui Kisugi). She was widely used especially in works produced by Toei Animation and Nippon Animation. In 1984, she received the award for "Best Voice Actor" in the 1st Nihon Anime Taishou. Digital Monster (virtual Pet)
The Digital Monster is a digital pet created by WiZ and Bandai that spawned the ''Digimon'' franchise. It was released by Bandai on June 26, 1997 in Japan and on December 5, 1997 in North America. This pet was a masculine counterpart to the Tamagotchi, which was deemed more appropriate for girls. It was similar to earlier virtual pets with the distinctions of being a fighting pet that could connect with others like it. The original Digital Monster model that was released in 1997 sold units worldwide, including in Japan and overseas, up until March 2004. By 2005, more than Digital Monster units had been sold worldwide. In 2017, a 20th anniversary edition was released in Japan which allows the owner to choose from any of the eggs from the first five versions of the original toy, as well as several new ones unlocked through various methods.
