Diego Rodríguez Porcelos
Diego Rodríguez Porcelos (governed 873 – c. 885), was the second List of Castilian counts, Count of Castile, succeeding his father Rodrigo of Castile, Rodrigo. He did not govern Álava, however, as his father had done, since this responsibility fell on Count Vela Jiménez. Between 882 and 884 and under the mandate of King Alfonso III of Asturias, he was in charge of the ''repoblación'' of Burgos and Ubierna. Shortly before 882, he built a castle in Pancorbo from where he confronted a large Arab army trying to annex the valley of the River Ebro, Ebro in two different military campaigns in 882 and 883. He also created a defensive line along the river Arlanzón (river), Arlanzón, and in 884 founded an outpost that would develop into the city of Burgos. It also appears he restored the episcopal see of Oca (ancient ''Auca''). His date and place of death are not agreed upon by the chronicles, though 885 is most probable as recorded in the Chronica Naierensis which states that ''Di ...

Diego Matías Rodríguez
Diego is a Spanish language, Spanish masculine given name. The Portuguese language, Portuguese equivalent is Diogo (name), Diogo. The name also has several patronymic derivations, listed below. The etymology of Diego is disputed, with two major origin hypotheses: ''Tiago'' and ''Didacus''. Etymology ''Tiago'' hypothesis Diego has long been interpreted as variant of ''Tiago'' (Brazilian Portuguese: ''Thiago''), an abbreviation of ''Santiago'', from the older ''Sant Yago'' "Saint Jacob (name), Jacob", in English known as James the Great, Saint James or as ''San-Tiago''. This has been the standard interpretation of the name since at least the 19th century, as it was reported by Robert Southey in 1808 and by Apolinar Rato y Hevia (1891). The suggestion that this identification may be a folk etymology, i.e. that ''Diego'' (and ''Didacus''; see below) may be of another origin and only later identified with ''Jacobo'', is made by Buchholtz (1894), though this possibility is judged ...

Diego Rodríguez (mathematician)
Diego Rodríguez ( Atitalaquia c.1596, in Mexico City – 1668) was a mathematician, astronomer, educator, and technological innovator in New Spain. He was one of the most important figures in the scientific field in the colony in the second half of the seventeenth century. Background In 1613 he entered the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy. Scientific revolution For thirty years Father Rodríguez maintained in his writing and teaching the separation of the exact sciences from metaphysics and theology. He tried to propound the heliocentric theory of Nicolaus Copernicus without, in his writings, openly breaking with the scholastic tradition. He wrote on the astronomical findings of Galileo Galilei, but without directly endorsing them or attacking the classical cosmology. Nevertheless, these were radical steps, and the scientific community he headed in Mexico accepted them about 30 years before their colleagues in Spain. One reason for this surprising difference is th ...
