Die Doofen
Die Doofen ("The Stupids") was a German comedy musical duo consisting of comedians Wigald Boning and Olli Dittrich. History The band was formed in 1992 under the name Wigald Boning & Die Doofen, but split up after their debut album. Boning and Dittrich joined German television show ''RTL Samstag Nacht'' ("RTL Saturday Night") in 1993 in which they worked as comedians until 1998. They also reunited as a band (under the name Die Doofen) on this show. They are best known for their two albums in this period. Their number one album ''Lieder, die die Welt nicht braucht'' ("Songs that no one needs") sold more than 1 million copies in Germany. Their single "Mief" ("Stink") was also a number one hit in their native country. They won the German music awards Echo, Bambi, Goldene Stimmgabel and Goldene Europa. Wigald Boning (born 20 January 1967) is a German comedian, television presenter, actor, and author. Boning has appeared in different TV and film productions in Germany. He became famous as an actor in the television comedy programme '' RTL Samstag Nacht''. Together with Olli Dittrich, Boning sang in the music group Die Doofen. He has also released several books. Olli Dittrich
Oliver Michael Dittrich (born 20 November 1956) is a German television personality, comedian, actor, and musician. Life Dittrich completed a three year-education as a theatre painter in the Hamburg State Opera (1975–1978). At the same time, he started his professional career as a musician, composer, and songwriter. Dittrich became famous in Germany for his work as an actor and comedian in the comedy television show ''RTL Samstag Nacht''. He appeared in films and TV series but has also performed live on stage. He sang and played in the band ''Die Doofen'' with Wigald Boning, which sold over 1,5 mio copies with only two albums. In 1995, the duo started playing as one of the supporting acts with Jon Bon Jovi on his stadium tour through Germany. Echo Music Prize (stylised as ECHO, ) was an accolade by the , an association of recording companies of Germany to recognize outstanding achievement in the music industry. The first ECHO Awards ceremony was held in 1992, and it was set up to honor musical accomplishments by performers for the year 1991, succeeding the Deutscher Schallplattenpreis, which was awarded since 1963. The Bambi, often called the Bambi Award and stylised as BAMBI, is a German award presented annually by Hubert Burda Media to recognize excellence in international media and television to personalities in the media, arts, culture, sports, and other fields "with vision and creativity who affected and inspired the German public that year", both domestic and foreign. The Goldene Stimmgabel (English: Golden tuning fork, Tuning Fork) was an annual prize awarded within the Germany, German music scene from 1981 to 2007. The prizes were awarded according to the number of records sold from October of the previous year to June of the year of the award, as determined by Media Control GfK International, Media Control. It was established in 1981 by Dieter Thomas Heck, who hosted the television gala award show every year since then. It was broadcast on either ARD (broadcaster), ARD or ZDF until the year 2000. From 2001 to 2007 the award show was broadcast by ZDF alone. Goldene Europa
Goldene Europa award is the oldest German Television award for artists and entertainers. It was awarded from 1968 to 2003. In the years 1989 and 2001, there were no ceremonies. Since 1981, the gala was broadcast on television. The original sculpture award for the "Goldene Europa" from 1968 is the work of sculptor Herbert Strässer. The award was originally designed with the aim of launching the careers of German artists and producers with their music facing strong competition from the United States and United Kingdom. "Con te partirò" (; "With You I Shall Depart") is an Italian song written by Francesco Sartori (music) and Lucio Quarantotto (lyrics). It was first performed by Andrea Bocelli at the 1995 Sanremo Music Festival and recorded on his album of the same year, '' Bocelli''. The single was first released as an A-side single with " Vivere" in 1995, topping the charts, first in France, where it became one of the best-selling singles of all-time, and then in Belgium, breaking the all-time record sales there. A second version of the song, sung partly in English, released in 1996 as "Time to Say Goodbye", paired Bocelli with British soprano Sarah Brightman, and achieved even greater success, topping charts all across Europe, including Germany, where it became the biggest-selling single in history.
