65803 Didymos
65803 Didymos (provisional designation ) is a sub-kilometer asteroid and binary system that is classified as a potentially hazardous asteroid and near-Earth object of the Apollo group. The asteroid was discovered in 1996 by the Spacewatch survey at Kitt Peak, and its small 160-meter minor-planet moon, named Dimorphos, was discovered in 2003. Due to its binary nature, the asteroid was then named ''Didymos'', the Greek word for 'twin'. Didymos's moon, Dimorphos, was the target of the DART mission to test the viability of asteroid impact avoidance by collision with a spacecraft, while the impact was witnessed by LICIACube, a flyby CubeSat component of the mission. Discovery Didymos was discovered on 11 April 1996 by the University of Arizona Steward Observatory's, and Lunar and Planetary Laboratory's, Spacewatch survey using its 0.9-meter telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona, United States. The binary nature of the asteroid was discovered by others; suspicion ...

Didymos (music Theorist)
Didymus the Musician (Greek: Δίδυμος) was a music theorist in Rome of the end of the 1st century BC or beginning of the 1st century AD, who combined elements of earlier theoretical approaches with an appreciation of the aspect of performance. Formerly assumed to be identical with the Alexandrian grammarian and lexicographer Didymus Chalcenterus, because Ptolemy and Porphyry referred to him as Didymus ''ho mousikos'' (the musician), classical scholars now believe that this Didymus was a younger grammarian and musician working in Rome at the time of Emperor Nero. He was a predecessor of Ptolemy at the library of Alexandria. According to Andrew Barker, his intention was to revive and produce contemporary performances of the music of Greek antiquity. The syntonic comma of 81/80 is sometimes called the ''comma of Didymus'' after him. Among his works was ''On the Difference between the Aristoxenians and the Pythagoreans'' (Περὶ τῆς διαφορᾶς τῶν Ἀριστ ...

Didymo
''Didymosphenia geminata'', commonly known as didymo or rock snot, is a species of diatom that produces nuisance growths in freshwater rivers and streams with consistently cold water temperatures and low nutrient levels. It is native to the northern hemisphere, and considered an invasive species in Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, and Chile. Even within its native range, it has taken on invasive characteristics since the 1980s. It is not considered a significant human health risk, but it can affect stream habitats and sources of food for fish and make recreational activities unpleasant. This microscopic alga can be spread in a single drop of water. Description ''Didymosphenia geminata'' is a diatom, which is a type of single-celled organism unique for their silica (SiO2) cell walls. The life history of diatoms includes both vegetative and sexual reproduction, though the sexual stage is not yet documented in this species. Although it is symmetric only along the apical axis, ty ...

Didymoi
Didymoi ( Greek: , 'twins') was a Roman fortlet (''praesidium'') in Egypt that lay along the road from Koptos to Berenike in the Eastern Desert. It corresponds to the site of Khasm al-Minayh in modern Egypt. It was named after its twin protector gods, Castor and Pollux. The fortlet was founded by Lucius Julius Ursus in the ninth year of the Emperor Vespasian, corresponding to AD 76–77. It was built around a well. Construction was overseen by Trebonius Valens, prefect of Berenike. The garrison consisted of a few dozen cavalry and infantry charged with securing the highway. It was commanded by a '' curator'' responsible to the prefect of Berenike. In the late first century, Didymoi was garrisoned by Thracian cavalry. In the early third century, there were Palmyrene soldiers, including archers, stationed there. The fortlet remained occupied until the middle of the fourth century. Archaeologists have found and published over 400 texts from Didymoi, the majority on ostraca, ...
