''Dicționarul explicativ al limbii române'' ("The Explanatory Dictionary of the Romanian Language", known under the abbreviation of DEX) is the most important dictionary of the Romanian language, published by the Institute of Linguistics of the Romanian Academy (''Institutul de Lingvistică "Iorgu Iordan – Al. Rosetti"''). Editorial history It was first edited in 1975. In 1988 a supplement, named DEX-S, was published, which included omissions of the previous edition. Wörterbuch DEX 1998
This list includes notable historic, standardized, and common-use dictionaries of the German language. The beginnings of German dictionaries date back to a series of glossaries from the 8th century CE. The first comprehensive German dictionary, the ''Deutsches Wörterbuch'' (DWB), was begun by the Brothers Grimm in 1838. The ''Duden'' dictionary, begun in 1880 and now in its 25th edition, is currently the prescriptive source for the spelling of German. Romanian Language
Romanian (obsolete spellings: Rumanian or Roumanian; autonym: ''limba română'' , or ''românește'', ) is the official and main language of Romania and the Moldova, Republic of Moldova. Romanian Academy
The Romanian Academy ( ro, Academia Română ) is a cultural forum founded in Bucharest, Romania, in 1866. It covers the scientific, artistic and literary domains. The academy has 181 active members who are elected for life. According to its bylaws, the academy's main goals are the cultivation of Romanian language and Romanian literature, the study of the national history of Romania and research into major scientific domains. Spelling
Spelling is a set of conventions that regulate the way of using graphemes (writing system) to represent a language in its written form. In other words, spelling is the rendering of speech sound (phoneme) into writing (grapheme). Spelling is one of the elements of orthography, and highly standardized spelling is a prescriptive element. Spellings originated as transcriptions of the sounds of spoken language according to the alphabetic principle.
