Alan Dickins
Alan Roger Dickins was Arundel Herald Extraordinary, Arundel Herald of Arms Extraordinary from 1998 to 2016. He was educated at Epsom College, Surrey and Emmanuel College, Cambridge, Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, where he graduated with a law degree in 1968. He qualified in 1972 as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, but a keen interest in genealogy and heraldry eventually led to his engagement in 1986 as a research assistant at the College of Arms. From 1995 he worked closely with Garter Principal King of Arms, Peter Gwynn-Jones while at the same time pursuing a fully independent legal career. He has made a special study of the relationship between intellectual property law and the present-day law of arms. He was appointed Arundel Herald Extraordinary, Arundel Herald of Arms Extraordinary in 1998, succeeding Rodney Dennys (d.1993), and demitted that office in 2016. William Dickins
William Arthur Dickins was Archdeacon of Bombay from 1907 until 1913. He was born in St Nicholas Vicarage, Emscote, Warwick on 18 April 1861, the son of the Rev. Thomas Bourne Dickins and his wife Sarah Catherine Trow. Dickins was educated at Lincoln College, Oxford; Durham University; and Lichfield Theological College. He was made Deacon in the Church of England in 1886, and priested by the Bishop of Lichfield in 1888. After a curacy in Penn, 1886-1891, he was appointed as a Chaplain on the Bombay ecclesiastical establishment in 1891, going on to serve at Ahmedabad, Nasirabad, Aden, Kirkee, Malabar Hill and Ahmednagar, prior to his appointment as Archdeacon. In 1913 he was appointed Vicar of Otterbourne, and then, in 1918, was appointed Vicar of Over Stowey. Dickins & Jones was a high-quality department store in London, England, which traded between 1835 and 2007, although tracing its origins to 1790. From 1835, the main store was in London's Regent Street. In its final years the store had branches at Epsom, Richmond, and Milton Keynes. The name is now a fashion brand of House of Fraser. Dame Zara Kate Bate (; previously Fell and Holt; 10 March 190914 June 1989) was an Australian fashion entrepreneur. She was best known as the wife of Harold Holt, who was prime minister of Australia from 1966 until his disappearance in 1967.
