Alex Dickerson
Alexander Ross Dickerson (born May 26, 1990), nicknamed "Grandpa", is an American professional baseball left fielder who is currently a free agent. He previously played in Major League Baseball for the San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves. In college at Indiana University he was a unanimous selection as the 2010 Big Ten Conference Baseball Player of the Year. Dickerson was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft. Mary Cynthia Dickerson (1866–1923) was an American herpetologist and the first curator of herpetology at the American Museum of Natural History, as well as the first curator in the now defunct department of Woods and Forestry. For ten years she was the editor of ''The American Museum Journal'', which was renamed ''Natural History'' during her editorship. She published two books: ''Moths and Butterflies'' (1901) and ''The Frog Book'' (1906) as well as numerous popular and scientific articles. Marianne Dickerson (November 14, 1960 – October 14, 2015) was a female long-distance runner from the United States. Dickerson was born in St. Joseph, Illinois. She was a star runner first at St. Joseph-Ogden High School, then at the University of Illinois after a stint on a track scholarship to the University of Michigan. (She earned a bachelor's in general engineering from the University of Illinois and a master's in industrial engineering from the University of Michigan).
