Dick Smith (rugby League)
Dick Smith was a rugby league player who represented New Zealand in one test match in 1932 against England on the wing. In the process he became the 218th player to represent New Zealand. He also played rugby league for Auckland. He was a member of the North Shore Albions (also named Devonport United), and the Newton Rangers clubs. His brother was Jack Smith, the New Zealand rugby league representative of the late 1930s, they were both the nephews of the well known sportsman of the 1890s-1910s George Smith. Early life Dick Smith was born Walton Victor Roy Smith but later became known as Dick with his initials often being recorded as "R. Smith" and "R.W. Henry Gifford Vivian (4 November 1912 – 12 August 1983) was a New Zealand cricketer who played in seven Test matches between 1931 and 1937. The Ellerslie Eagles are a rugby league club based in Ellerslie, New Zealand. The club was founded in 1912 and competes in Auckland Rugby League competitions. Its premier team competes in the Sharman cup. The club celebrated its centenary Queen's Birthday weekend, 2012. Allan Seagar
Allan Wilfred Seagar (20 June 1903 – 20 April 1984) was a rugby league player who represented New Zealand in 1930 in 9 matches, thus becoming New Zealand's 212th player. He also played for Auckland in 13 matches and played from 1923 to 1941 for Devonport United (North Shore Albions), playing 159 matches. His brother George Seagar also represented New Zealand at rugby league while his son Allan Herbert Seagar was a New Zealand champion swimmer, and represented New Zealand at the 1962 and 1966 Commonwealth Games. Carlaw Park was a multi-purpose stadium in Parnell, New Zealand, Parnell, a central suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. It neighboured the Auckland Domain's Northern end. It was primarily used for rugby league and had a peak spectator capacity of around 28,000 in the 1930s, though this fell to around 17,000 by the time the ground was closed in 2002. History The stadium's grandstands and terraces were built in 1916, and it became the home of rugby league in Auckland from 1921. Richmond Rovers
The Richmond Rovers Rugby League Club is a rugby league club based in Grey Lynn, New Zealand. The premier team is called the Richmond Bulldogs and compete in Auckland Rugby League's Fox Memorial competition. The ''Auckland Star'' was an evening daily newspaper published in Auckland, New Zealand, from 24 March 1870 to 16 August 1991. The Mid Canterbury cricket team represents the Mid Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand, with its headquarters in Ashburton. Its governing body is the Mid Canterbury Cricket Association. The team competes in the Hawke Cup. Until 1996 it was known as Ashburton County. South Canterbury Cricket Team
The South Canterbury cricket team represents the South Canterbury region of New Zealand. It competes in the Hawke Cup. History Cricket was probably first played in the region in the early 1860s. The Timaru Cricket Club was formed in 1864. A South Canterbury XXII captained by Michael Godby played the touring Australian team at Timaru Cricket Ground in January 1881; the Australians won easily. The South Canterbury Cricket Association was formed in 1893, and a competition contested by Ashburton, Geraldine, Temuka and Timaru began in the 1893-94 season. South Canterbury continued to play occasional matches against touring teams, and began a regular series of matches against Canterbury. North Otago Cricket
The North Otago cricket team represents the North Otago region of New Zealand, with its headquarters in Oamaru. It competes in the Hawke Cup, which it won most recently in early 2021. Its parent body, the North Otago Cricket Association, was founded in 1899. History In 1864 the Oamaru Cricket Club was established. The club represented the region in matches against touring teams from Australia and England in the 1870s and 1880s.
