Dick Marsh
Victor Burton "Dick" Marsh (August 29, 1906 – January 23, 1968) was an American football player for the National Football League (NFL). During the 1933 season he played for the New York Giants. Career Marsh was born in Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma, USA on August 29, 1906, to Orris McCartney Marsh (1876–1940) and Gertrude Maude Marsh (1877–1964). He attended grammar school and high school in Sayre, graduating in 1925. He went on to study at Phillips University and gained a degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He was a member of the university football team and lettered in football during his time at Phillips. He gained his coaches certificate, and after graduating he became assistant coach at Phillips. He also worked in the Beckham County National Bank as a teller, and for the California Oil Company in the engineering department. Guard (gridiron Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming defensive line, linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Sayre, Oklahoma
Sayre is a small city in, and the county seat of, Beckham County, in western Oklahoma, United States. It is halfway between Oklahoma City, and Amarillo, Texas, on Interstate 40 and the former U.S. Route 66. The population was 4,375 at the 2010 census, the largest recorded by a census since Sayre's founding. The total was an increase of 6.3 percent from the 2000 census.
