Dick Adams (politician)
Dick Godfrey Harry Adams (born 29 April 1951) is a former Australian politician who served as a Labor Party member of the Australian House of Representatives. He represented the Division of Lyons in central Tasmania from the 1993 federal election until the 2013 federal election. He was born in Launceston, Tasmania, and was a meat worker, rural worker and an organiser with the Australasian Meat Industry Employees' Union and the Liquor and Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers' Union (Miscellaneous Division) before entering politics. Dick Adams (baseball)
Richard Leroy Adams (April 8, 1920 – September 14, 2016) was a former American first baseman in Major League Baseball, playing briefly for the Philadelphia Athletics during the season. Born in Tuolumne County, California, he batted right-handed and threw left-handed. Coming from a baseball family, Adams was the older brother of second baseman Bobby Adams and uncle of outfielder Mike Adams. He started his professional career in 1939 with the Cincinnati Reds affiliate Ogden Reds of the Pioneer League, spending three seasons in the minor leagues seasons before enlisting in the US Army Air Force in 1941. Discharged from the service at the end of 1945, he played and managed the Santa Ana, California Army Air Base team, for which Joe DiMaggio played. Dick Adams (Canadian Football)
Richard Adams (born February 13, 1948), known as Dick or Dickie, was a gridiron football defensive back who was drafted and tried out for the Houston Oilers of the National Football League (NFL), and later played for the Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Adams was released at the end of the first week of the Oilers' 1971 training camp before the first preseason game. After being signed by the Rough Riders, Adams played in 63 regular season games from 1972 to 1976. He was named an All-Canadian player from 1972 to 1975. Adams became a Grey Cup champion in 1973 after the Rough Riders defeated the Edmonton Eskimos 22–18 in the 61st Grey Cup. He also won another Grey Cup with Ottawa in 1976.
