Dibya Khaling
Dibya Khaling ( ne, दिब्य खालिङ; 28 March 1952 - 25 June 2006) is an Indian musician, composer and lyricist known for his works in the Nepali language. He has worked with many prominent Nepali singers such as Arun Thapa and Narayan Gopal. Early life He was born on 28 March 1952 (15 Jestha 2009 BS) in Darjeeling Mission Compound in Darjeeling, India to father Samson Khaling and mother Martha Khaling. In childhood, he used to suffer from polio. His father bought him a harmonium to keep him occupied and he started singing in church programmes since the age of 12. He received a bachelor's degree at the age of 21. Music Khaling has rendered music for about 1000 songs, including the famous ''Mero Geet Sabai Timi Laai..'' sung by Arun Thapa , ''Ma Ta Laligurans Bhayechh''u, ''Hey Bir Hinda Aghi Sari'', ''Preyasika Yaadharu'', ''Mayako Aadharma'', and ''Bipana Babhaye Bachidine'', and music for plays and films (Nepali film ''Didi'' by Pratap Subba). Darjeeling
Darjeeling (, , ) is a town and municipality in the northernmost region of the Indian state of West Bengal. Located in the Eastern Himalayas, it has an average elevation of . To the west of Darjeeling lies the easternmost province of Nepal, to the east the Kingdom of Bhutan, to the north the Indian state of Sikkim, and farther north the Tibet Autonomous Region region of China. Aruna Lama
Aruna Lama (9 September 19454 February 1998) was an Indian-born Nepali language singer from Darjeeling. She is popularly known as 'Nightingale of the Hills'. She sang hundreds of Nepali songs, including some for Nepali film, and left an indelible mark as one of the best singers in Nepali music. Biography Lama was born on 9 September 1945 at Ghoom Pahar, Darjeeling, British India to Nepali parents Surya Bahadur Lama and Sanmaya Lama. Her uncle C.B. Lama inspired her to sing from the age of 7. She won a music competition organized by the Gorkha Dukha Niwarak Sammelan (GDNS) in 1956 at the age of 11 and then she never looked back. Amber Gurung, one of the stalwarts of Nepali music, groomed her in singing from 1958. Aruna Lama did her schooling at Mungpoo Primary School, Jalpahar, and St. Teresa's School, Darjeeling. Gopal Yonzon
Gopal Yonzan, also spelled Yonjan, (26 August 1943 – 20 May 1997) was a Nepali lyricist, singer, and composer. He was known for his patriotic Nepali songs. His voice range allowed him to sing songs of every genre of Nepalese music. He belongs to the first generation of Nepali singers who became professional singers. His songs have also been used in several movies and dramas across the country. Gopal dedicated his entire life to creating music. He spent years researching and studying Nepali folk and traditional as well as Indian, in particular Rabindra Sangeet and Newari classical music.
