''Diario Norte'' is a local daily newspaper published in Resistencia, Argentina. ''Norte'' was established in 1968. The publication was purchased in 1972 by anchorman Juan Carlos Rousselot, who persuaded his brother, Ricardo, to join him from Chicago. Resistencia, Chaco
Resistencia () is the capital and largest city of the province of Chaco in north-eastern Argentina. According to the 2010 census, the population of the city proper was 291,720 inhabitants. It is the anchor of a larger metropolitan area, Greater Resistencia, which comprises at least three more municipalities for a total population of 387,340 as of 2010. This conurbation is the largest in the province, and the eleventh most populous in the country. It is located along the Negro River, a tributary of the much larger Paraná River, opposite the city of Corrientes, Corrientes Province. Juan Carlos Rousselot
Juan Carlos Rousselot (June 24, 1935 – July 8, 2010) was an Argentine radio and television personality, newspaper publisher, and former mayor of the Greater Buenos Aires suburb of Morón. Life and times Early life and career Rousselot was born in Árbol Solo, a rural outpost in Tapenagá Department, Chaco Province, in 1935. He debuted on radio when, at age 18, he stood in for an absent broadcaster on LT5 Radio Chaco. He later worked the news daily ''El Territorio'', and in 1958, relocated to Buenos Aires, where he joined Radio El Mundo. Rousselot hosted a talent show on Radio Rivadavia from 1964. He later became a television anchorman on a Channel 11 evening news program, ''El Diario Alpargatas''; among his milestones at the program included live coverage of the 1969 Apollo 11 Moon landing. The Supreme Court of Argentina ( es, link=no, Corte Suprema de Argentina), officially known as the Supreme Court of Justice of the Argentine Nation ( es, link=no, Corte Suprema de Justicia de la Nación Argentina, CSJN), is the highest court of law of the Argentine Republic. It was inaugurated on 15 January 1863. However, during much of the 20th century, the Court and the Argentine judicial system in general, lacked autonomy from the executive power. The Court was reformed in 2003 by the decree 222/03. The Supreme Court functions as a last resort tribunal. Its rulings cannot be appealed. It also decides on cases dealing with the interpretation of the constitution (for example, it can overturn a law passed by Congress if deems it unconstitutional).
