Diane Rosenbaum
Diane M. Rosenbaum (born 1949) is an American politician in the US state of Oregon who was the Majority Leader, majority leader of the Oregon State Senate. She was a Democratic Party (United States), Democratic member of the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 42 (Southeast Portland, Oregon, Portland) from 1998 to 2009. She served as speaker pro tempore. In the Oregon Senate elections, 2008, 2008 elections, she ran unopposed for the Oregon State Senate, replacing Kate Brown, who was elected Oregon Secretary of State, secretary of state. She won reelection to District 21 in 2012 after defeating Republican Cliff Hutchison. After Governor John Kitzhaber resigned in February 2015, elevating Brown to the governorship, Rosenbaum was named by ''The Oregonian'' as a potential secretary of state. Multnomah County is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the county's population was 815,428. Multnomah County is part of the Portland–Vancouver– Hillsboro, OR–WA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Though smallest in area, Multnomah County is the state's most populous county. Elections for the 75th Oregon Legislative Assembly took place in 2008. The Republican and Democratic primary elections were on May 20, 2008, and the general election was held on November 4, 2008. Fifteen of the Oregon State Senate's thirty seats were up for election, as were all 60 seats of the Oregon House of Representatives. In the general election, there were 39 races with both Democratic and Republican candidates; 24 were in districts previously represented by a Republican, 15 in districts previously represented by Democrats. John Kitzhaber
John Albert Kitzhaber (born March 5, 1947) is an American former politician who served as the 35th governor of Oregon from 1995 to 2003, and as the 37th governor of Oregon from 2011 until his resignation in 2015. A member of the Democratic Party, Kitzhaber was the longest-serving governor in the state's history. Kitzhaber resigned from office on February 18, 2015, a month after he was sworn in for his fourth term. State and federal authorities were investigating criminal allegations against him and his fiancée, Cylvia Hayes. Secretary of State Kate Brown succeeded him. In 2017, the federal government dropped its investigation against Kitzhaber without filing charges. The duties of the office are auditor of public accounts, chief elections officer, and administrator of public records.
