Diana Torrieri
Diana Torrieri ( Angela Vittoria Torrieri; 9 August 1913 – 27 March 2007) was an Italian actress. She worked in theater, films, television and radio. Life and career Born in Canosa di Puglia, Torrieri made her professional debut in 1937, in the stage company led by Paola Borboni, with whom she even toured in the United States. During the war, she was a partisan and a member of the Action Party and was even wounded during the liberation of Milan. In 1949, she tried to commit suicide by swallowing sleeping pills. Active on stage until the late 1960s, she worked with the theatrical companies of Giorgio Strehler, Vittorio Gassman, Anton Giulio Bragaglia, Giorgio Albertazzi, Sergio Tofano and Memo Benassi, among others. Giorgio Albertazzi
Giorgio Albertazzi (20 August 1923 – 28 May 2016) was an Italian actor and film director. Born in San Martino a Mensola, Tuscany, Albertazzi joined the Italian Social Republic and reached the rank of lieutenant. After their defeat, he spent two years in prison for collaborating. Following the amnesty by Palmiro Togliatti he changed from studying architecture to acting. In the theater Albertazzi debuted in Shakespeare's ''Troilus and Cressida'', and over the following decades starred in a number of classics, many of them for television. From the early 1950s he was also seen on the big screen and appeared in more than 50 films. From 1969, he directed several television films, including the miniseries ''George Sand'' in 1981. From 2003, he was the director of the Teatro di Roma. He had a close friendship with actress Anna Proclemer who appeared with him for many years. Sergio Tofano
Sergio Tòfano (20 August 1886 – 28 October 1973) was an Italian actor, director, playwright, scene designer and illustrator. Tofano was born in Rome. In 1909, he made his first appearance on stage with Ermete Novelli, then joined Virgilio Talli's company (1913–23). He soon specialized as a comic actor, giving his role a new elegance and complexity. He worked with other famous actors and directors: Dario Niccodemi (1924–27); Luigi Almirante and Giuditta Rissone (1927–30), Elsa Merlini, Vittorio De Sica, Evi Maltagliati, Gino Cervi etc. During those years, he made his famous performances as Doctor Knock in Jules Romains' play, and as Professor Toti in Luigi Pirandello's ''Pensaci, Giacomino!''.
