Diagonal Mar I El Front Marítim Del Poblenou
Diagonal Mar i el Front Marítim del Poblenou is a neighborhood in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The area between the seafront, Sant Adrià de Besòs and the Besòs river was previously made up of slums and poor areas surrounding the neighbourhoods of La Mina, El Maresme and Poblenou. Under the new name Diagonal Mar, in reference to its proximity to the sea and Avinguda Diagonal, renovation started taking place in the late 1990s. Still ongoing, this has been one of the most ambitions urban regeneration schemes, and also one of the most controversial and a perceived departure from Barcelona's well-established urban model. Districts Of Barcelona
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain is divided into 10 districts. These are administrated by a councillor designated by the main city council, and each of them have some powers relating to issues such as urbanism or infrastructure in their area. The current division of the city into different districts was approved in 1984. In 2009 Barcelona started using a new division of 73 neighbourhoods (the 10 districts are still in use), a division that was done for a better service from the City Council. Enric Miralles
Enric Miralles Moya (12 February 1955 – 3 July 2000) was a Spanish architect from Barcelona. He graduated from the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 1978. After establishing his reputation with a number of collaborations with his first wife Carme Pinós, the couple separated in 1991. Miralles later married fellow architect Benedetta Tagliabue, and the two practiced together as EMBT Architects. Miralles' magnum opus and his largest project, the new Scottish Parliament Building, was unfinished at the time of his death. Oriol Bohigas i Guardiola (20 December 1925 – 30 November 2021) was a Spanish architect and urban planner, known for his work in the modernization of Barcelona. Early life Bohigas was born in Barcelona, Spain, on 20 December 1925 in a Catalan bourgeois family. His father was the philologist and he studied at the Institut-Escola de la Generalitat. During the Civil War he moved to Olot, province of Girona, where he continued his high school studies. Bohigas graduated in architecture in 1951 from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona (Barcelona School of Architecture), where in 1963 he obtained the title of Doctor of Architecture.
