Dhurringile is a small town in Victoria, Australia, Victoria, Australia. 10 km north of Murchison and approximately the same distance east of the Waranga Basin reservoir. It is located in the City of Greater Shepparton. At the , Dhurringile had a population of 369. The historic Dhurringile mansion (now part of HM Prison Dhurringile) is located in the town. Dhurringile was the name of a 65 room mansion built in 1875 by James Winter, a wealthy squatter. The name is thought to have an Aboriginal origin meaning emu’s back, which the hill on which the mansion is built is said to resemble. The town has a small primary school. The electoral district of Euroa is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in Australia. It was created in the redistribution of electoral boundaries in 2013. It was a new district created due to the abolition of the districts of Seymour, Rodney and Benalla, taking in the areas to the north of these districts toward Shepparton. It includes the towns of Benalla, Violet Town, Euroa, Seymour, Heathcote, Nagambie, Rushworth and other towns in the Campaspe, Strathbogie, Benalla and Mitchell local government areas. Dhurringile is a heritage-listed mansion and former rural estate in northern Victoria, Australia. It is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register for its architectural significance as "one of Victoria's grandest homesteads", for its associations with the Winter-Irving pastoral family, and for its later uses as an internment and prisoner of war camp, boys' training home and most recently, as part of HM Prison Dhurringile. HM Prison Dhurringile is a minimum security prison located in Dhurringile, Victoria, Dhurringile, Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. Situated 160 km north of Melbourne near Murchison, Victoria, Murchison, it is based around the historic Dhurringile estate. Facilities The Dhurringile mansion has not been used to house prisoners since 2007 when new buildings were opened. The main unit is called Kyabram and houses 54 prisoners in cell accommodations. The unit has two sides, South and North. South is the reception side, where all new arrivals are housed prior to being moved into cottage accommodation. The North side is for medical hold prisoners who need to be located within the unit on a permanent basis. The prison also contains cottages in both C1 and C2 classifications.
