Dhruba Esh
Dhruba Esh (born 7 January 1967) is a Bangladeshi cover artist and writer. He has designed a number of the most iconic covers including Humayun Ahmed's Himu (character), Himu and Misir Ali series. He won Bangla Academy Literary Award for His Children's Writing in 2022 for his contribution to children's literature. Early life Esh was born on 7 January 1967 at Sunamganj District of the then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) to Bhupati Ranjan Esh and Leela Esh. He graduated from University of Dhaka in Fine Arts. Career Esh started his career as a cover artist in 1989 when he was a second-year student of Dhaka University. Initially, he used to cover the book of Imdadul Haque Milan. He was later introduced to Humayun Ahmed by other publishers and started designing book covers for him in 1990s. In an interview with ''The Daily Star (Bangladesh), The Daily Star'' in February 2019, he said that he has designed close to 25,000 book covers in his career. Sunamganj ( bn, সুনামগঞ্জ) is a district located in north-eastern Bangladesh within the Sylhet Division. History In the ancient period, Sunamganj was part of the Laur Kingdom. After the conquest of Sylhet (Kingdom of Gauiurh) in 1303 by Muslims under the spiritual guidance of Shah Jalal, Shah Kamal Quhafah established a capital in Shaharpara with the aid of his twelve disciples and his second son, Shah Muazzamuddin Qureshi, who also maintained a second sub-administration office at Nizgaon on the bank of the river Surma, present day Shologhar (there is now Shologhar Masjid and madrasa) in Sunamganj town, which was administered by one of his descendants. Between the latter part of 1300 CE and 1765 CE, the present-day Sunamganj district was a part of Iqlim-e-Muazzamabad, i.e. the state of Muazzamabad, which was an independent state until 1620 when it was conquered by the mighty Mughal of Delhi.
