Baishnab Charan Patnaik
Baishnab Charan Patnaik (1914-2013) was an Indian politician. He was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India. Biography He was born on April 29, 1914. He was expelled from high school when he joined the civil disobedience movement in 1931. He was one of the vanguards fighting for people's cause and launching movements in the princely states of Odisha, (especially in the former state of Dhenkanal). During Quit India Movement, he led an armed revolt against the Raj and took hold of administration of then Murhi sub- division of Dhenkanal state for over a week. Besides face to face fight he had carried on underground operations and was in jail for many years. Kamakhya Prasad Singh Deo
Brigadier Kamakhya Prasad Singh Deo AVSM (born 6 August 1941), the scion of Dhenkanal is a former Member of Parliament and a retired Indian Territorial Army officer. He was a member of the 4th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th and 13th Lok Sabha. He was first elected to Lok Sabha in 1967 representing Swatantra Party. Details Political career K.P. Nandini Satpathy (9 June 1931 – 4 August 2006) was an Indian politician and author. She was the List of Chief Ministers of Odisha, Chief Minister of Odisha from June 1972 to December 1976. Early life Nandini Satpathy nee Panigrahi was born on 9 June 1931 to Kalindi Charan Panigrahi and Ratnamani Panigrahi in a Brahmin Family of Coastal Puri but grew up in Pithapur, Cuttack, India. Tathagata Satpathy (born 1 April 1956) was a member of the 12th, 14th, 15th and 16th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Dhenkanal constituency of Odisha, India, Odisha, and was re-elected for the fourth time in 2014. Suparno Satpathy is a socio-political leader from the state of Odisha. He is the great-grandson of Kalindi Charan Panigrahi and the grandson of Nandini Satpathy. He is the Chairman of Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT), a leading non-profit social cause organisation. Kalpana Dash
Kalpana Dash (7 July 1966 – 23 May 2019) was an Indian lawyer and mountaineer. She was the first Odia mountaineer to scale Mount Everest. She scaled Mount Everest on 21 May 2008, along with a team of five members from the United States, Canada and Nepal. She had attempted to climb Mount Everest twice before, once in 2004 and once in 2006, but failed due to bad weather and health conditions. Death On 23 May 2019, Dash again summited Everest with two others, but became ill on the descent and died just above the balcony of Mount Everest. The cause of her death was the unusual congestion near the summit of Mount Everest because of a narrow climbing window made narrower by severe weather conditions and the Nepal government issuing permits to several hundred climbers. Amiya Kumari Padhi
Amiya Kumari Padhi (15 September 1933–30 April 2012) was an eminent Indian jurist and the first woman to serve as a judge of the Odisha High Court. She was also the Odisha High Court representative under the Indian National Security Act. Early life and education Padhi was born in Dhenekanal, Odisha on September 15, 1933. She completed her matriculation in Sambalpur and graduated from Ravenshaw College in 1953. Padhi studied law and enrolled at the Bar in 1964. On April 18, 1988, she was elevated to judge of the Orissa High Court and retired from that position on September 14, 1995. Padhi was the only woman judge to serve at the Orissa High Court until the appointment of Sanju Panda in February 2007.
