Dharitri
''Dharitri'' is a social satire drama in Odia, released on 30 March 1973. It is based on Amulya Kumari Patnaik's novel of the same name. Sarat Pujari, Prashant Nanda, Sriram Panda, Bhanumati Devi and Dhira Biswal acted in key roles. Synopsis Girish Choudhury is a pseudo-social activist and politician. He has two sons, Subhendu and Sudhir. To get popularity in society, he gets his daughter-in-law from a poor family for his son Subhendu. Subhendu doesn't like his wife Mamata and stays in town engaged in the contracting business with the help of his father. Girish's wife always tortures Mamata and asks for dowry. Mamata silently bears all the pain and torture caused by her mother-in-law. Sudhir, a revolutionist, doesn't accept the things happening in his house and revolts against his father, mother and brother. at last he gets success uniting Subhendu and Mamata. Sriram Panda
Sriram Panda ( or, ଶ୍ରୀରାମ ପଣ୍ଡା, born c. 1954) is an Indian Odia actor, director and a screenplay writer hailing from the Nabarangpur district, Odisha, India. Career Sriram Panda started his film career in Dhir Biswal's '' Dharitri'' directed by Nitai Palit in 1972, which was a success. In 1975 he starred in the lead role of Jajabara directed by Trimurti which was a huge hit & is still regarded as one of the classic films to be ever made in Odia film industry. A coloured version of Jajabara was later released which garnered high popularity among the masses. In 1976 he starred in 6 films 4 of which were commercially successful. He emerged as Superstar of Odisha in the 1980s and 1990s. Actor-director duo Siddhanta Mahapatra and Prashanta Nanda Given 8 all time blockbuster Movies to Ollywood. He is currently a Member of Parliament at Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, for Odisha. Upendra Kumar
Upendra Kumar (18 July 1941 – 24 January 2002) was an Indian composer who predominantly worked in Kannada and Odia films. He was known for his strong association with Rajkumar and his family and scored some of his career best compositions for the films featuring Rajkumar and his sons. He had scored for 210 films including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Tulu films. Early life Kumar originally hailed from Digapahandi, a town in the present-day Odisha State of India. He was born in 1941 in Madras (now Chennai) in British India to a Telugu-speaking brahmin family. His father, Lakshman Swamy was an astrologer. Sikandar Alam
Md. Sikandar Alam (Odia: ସିକନ୍ଦର ଆଲାମ) (27 July 1939 – 8 August 2010) was a playback singer in Odisha film industry (known as Ollywood). He is sometimes called the Salabega of modern Odisha. In an interview with Monalisa Jena, he said, "I can't appreciate the changing trends where music has become an instrument of titillation with vulgar lyrics. True music soothes the frayed nerves and makes one forget one's mundane life". Childhood and education Alam was born on 27 July 1939 in Routrapur, Baialishi Mouzaa of Cuttack district.
